Much heavier workloads on longer days with fewer consecutive days off hasn't reduced fatigue?

Not sure if there’s a way they could send an ‘optimal’ amount of mail into DOs. Double or treble mail may be way too much but on certain lighter days it’s sometimes not worth going out with the mail from an efficiency perspective.

I'm not fussed about non-drivers getting all Saturdays off. It's not necessarily a good thing for them as they'll have to work 5 days straight, which means they'd be fatigued by the end of the week....

Depends how you view it.

But I won't complain if the CWU and Royal Mail deem it unfair and throw a few quid extra at drivers.

I’d rather not do a mon-fri tbh.

But if they did there’s another way they could pay drivers more and that’s have a higher rate for working Saturdays.

It would be wrong on all levels if they end up having every weekend off and that would create a two tier system which is pretty much already is now with the new and old contracts.

I presume you are on a so called legacy contract much like myself. Why are you kicking off about non-drivers, 100% of them being on the same contract as yourself, when new starts are paid £80 PW less than us? That is the real two tier system here.

Tony Bouch needs to tell us all how many steps / miles posties are walking on average throughout the week during these trials.

Personally I think we should be capped at 10 miles a day, so any days which involve walking any further need to be reduced.

I'd assume as the days are now longer for the people on these trials they are probably walking 11 to 13 miles on some days?


cue loads of people responding saying 'I already walk 14 miles per day'..... before you reply saying that - do you genuinely walk 14 miles? - is your app set up correctly? - are you only counting the steps you do at work and not the steps you do walking to work or walking your dog? - are you a non-driver?

It seems the goal is to get deliveries out on the street for their full shift, I assume the pilot offices are paying lots of excess docket for early start sorting. Does anyone else remember when we used to have night shift sorting duties at the DOs? Those were the days!

If only the CWU was the mechanism to prevent the exploitation of workers. I fully accept individual experiences of the CWU vary. My experience is that I see explotation every day and the CWU does nothing to stop it.
