That doesn’t make any sense. People are already partnered up on van share rounds. A full re-pick isn’t being done to cater for people on family friendly hours.
According to The Way Forward agreement a time change of the magnitude envisaged for a lot of offices would constitute major change and would mean a full repick. Whether it does or not is a different matter.
You then ringfence duties for family friendly (as you would do for people covered under the Equality Act)

If your office is only moving 15 minutes it is unlikely there would be any real issues for people to all of a sudden need major changes to their duty structure to allow for family friendly duties.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I'm actually hoping our office has a full revision and re-pick as we have been promised one for some time. I'm quite senior in the company but I've had enough of my round ever since the screws tacked a few extra loops on it even though it was barely achievable beforehand. A few of the managers favourites seem to have found themselves on cushy singleton duties rather than have to van share and it's the same ones who are always in early and finish hours before anyone else. Because of these instant gratification monkeys finishing early they took out many duties and left everyone else in the sh*t.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

You would think, but I know of quite a few people putting in for the exemption, including my partner.

Am I missing something or what? If there is the capability to exempt people from starting later then there is no reason for anyone to start later.

The argument and reason for the later starts we are told is that the work wont be in the office until later.

If the work was there to be prepped (FT) tied down (PT ) for the exempt, earlier than the new start time, then what is the reason for everyone else starting later?

The work would be in the building there to be sorted/tied down and we would all be waiting until later to start working? Why?

This is the reason why I think its a load of baloney and a box ticking exercise to say 'sorry but we tried'

It doesnt make any sense.

As for the idea that the time comes off the end rather than starting earlier, I cant see managers knocking an hour off the walk length either for some to finish earlier and make up the time. They want people indoors less and outdoors more. Shortening walks is just not part of their agenda.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

If this delivery 2.0 plan goes ahead, seniority will cease to exist,as there will be no official duties as such.
RM are steamrolling ahead with this 2.0 agenda, nothing CWU can do unfortunately

Sad times 🥲

The only way to leave early I think is by having your break at the end. Probably only for people working alone.

I can't talk for every office but ....
There might be some work in the office but your start time is dictated by the arrival of your second wave.

We currently have 2 duties that start earlier to unload the first van. They also finish earlier.
We consequently have 3 ready made family friendly duties (the 2 duties and the floater)

This isnt true. Delivery 2.0 still involved duties and seniority to pick them.

How does it even work if you have an office full of van-share rounds? You cannot have one half of the partnership on different start and finish times.

It seems a logistical nightmare.
In our office, they are talking about pairing up those who need the adjustment. Which means some will have to change duties.

Everybody does that in my DO anyway - would still be too late for picking children up from school

Wouldn’t it be easier to offer the change in hours to their partner as well? Seems less hassle.

That'll be some hours coming out your office at some point. No one should be scanning out before their official end time

You know nothing about how delivery offices operate, and yet you keep commenting like you do 🤷

If people are scanning out 20mins before their official finish time, the COM is going to be ordered by their boss to remove some hours. The higher ups aren't going to give a s**t that it's down to people taking their breaks. They're not go to go through every instance in the logs and cross reference it with any notes. They'll simply look at the scope to remove hours. It's not rocket science. :cuppa

It really doesn't work like that. We have a local agreement to take 20 mins at the end and we have had 2 recent revisions with involvement of area management and reps. Our manger has the ability to input that we have breaks at the end and the area manager has confirmed its not a problem.
Hopefully this will nip the constant "you will lose hours reply" as its pretty boring now.
