Can anyone at MC’s confirm if this has been scrapped or not?
We are still doing it at my MC.
Is there any briefing or WTL notes about it?
In my office, Saturday was the first time since sometime in the middle of 2020 (the blue envelopes etc.) that they've arrived with the specials, been sorted separately, and we've told to treat them differently we've been told to keep a running bundle of them so they all get done.

So either we've been doing it wrong for a very long time, or as with everything in this company, neither left hand or right hand have any idea what the other is doing
They get extracted from the mech then run seperatley / bundled up into walk sort and sent out with the Specials.
I would like to know what happens to them when they arrive at the DO’s? i imagine the the disgruntled OPG in the Locker just dumps them back out to what you call IPS?

We have an IPS frame dedicated to the NHS letters.
We keep them separate.
What the OPGs do once they have cleared them down is anyone's guess.

Extracted and then run separately here but only to office level.
I'd imagine in most DOs that they just sit under an IPS frame rather than a prep frame. I would have thought they'd have a better chance of being delivered had RM just sent them with the normal mech mail to be sequenced

Why would you imagine that? How many Delivery offices have you ever set foot in? My gut feeling is none.
They get sorted at a dedicated NHS letter frame on the IPS.
The posties then know which are NHS letters.
If a duty fails then the managers can clearly see the NHS letters and make provisions to have them delivered if possible.
There is a system in place to ensure NHS letters get delivered. The system isn't perfect, nothing ever is.
But if NHS letters are still failing in my DO it is down to the actions of individuals, not the system.

Yep, that's what often happens in ours. They have either been prepped and left in the frame for the next day or just sat in a sequenced tray underneath

They're getting to IPS later and missing mech waves, meaning more of them end up waiting in the office a day. They're outright getting a less reliable service, it's dumb as hell.
And even if you make it "work" with separate frames or adding them to specials... it's taking a lot more time filtering them in to bags and stuff (In the locker or on the street) than just delivering them like normal letters.

How many DOs apart from your own have you ever set foot in? My gut feeling is none. Unless you've literally visited every single last one of the hundreds of DOs around the country, you can't say how it is around the country any more than I can.
