Disgusting vans

Earlier in the week I treated my usual van, a Peugeot Expert, to a spin through the automated car wash at a nearby garage. It was literally covered all over in black soot, grime and mildew. Although not perfect, it washed up very nicely and now has a bit of a shine about it. It looks a different van! I have been driving it since August, yet that was its first ever wash in all that time.

The bloke who deals with vans at our place — a belligerent, overly officious twit — had the gall to tell me I wouldn’t be reimbursed the £5.95 as apparently the fleet have “self-cleaning paintwork” and it didn’t need cleaning!!

Self cleaning paint work! Does he mean when it rains they get a wash. The vans at my office are a disgrace, inside and outside.

Self cleaning, that's a laugh unless they mean as in you clean it yourself, or not as the case maybe.

Don't bother cleaning it then in future as we gain nothing from the vans looking nice, even Amazon & DPD manage to have clean looking vans!!

Some of the vans on our rurals are a disgrace despite being cleaned at least semi regularly. Mainly the vans where a lot of the "roads" travelled are dirt paths and gravel, causing an excess of mud and dust whenever one gets in or out. I accept them being dirty, it's the urban area vans that look like the postie has lived in them that I have a real problem with. Found 3 open Tupperwares of half eaten tuna pasta in a footwell once

I stand to be corrected on this but washing the van is not part of the duties of our employment. Like you said, as you can't put it on the fuel card for the local garage to do it, would management be happy for you to take the van home and clean it? They won't sanction it at ours so our vans stay nice and filthy. What a great advertisement for the company.

Guess the majority of vans are only 20-30,000 miles old - pictures tell you of our fellow workers and their attitudes. Disgraceful most times, almost saying ' they didnt clean it - so i wont ' Our old manager clamped down during covid, but now back to normal. Get the culprits thru the pda, and get out and clean it. Shocking fleet to be honest.

Don't think I've seen one of our vans with sub-80,000.

If it's not part of our duties and they aren't cleaned when they go to the workshop for a service or MOT, when are they supposed to be cleaned, never? What other company never cleans it's vehicles, I can't think of one?
