Dave Ward should have taken a leaf out of Mick Lynch book and the RMT on how to be successful with a trade dispute.

The rail dispute is all but finished with settlement

They should have announced strike dates as soon as the ballot result was released.

You better be announcing strike dates or im turning off
And you think that’s going to work…….delusional! We did 18 days of it on the one time of the year we thought they would crumble but they did the opposite and practically encouraged us! So you can get your brazier out and you banners but it ain’t going to make a jot of difference now!
We haven’t done a real strike yet only played at it a little
Yep. It's been a joke. The whole strike programme was poorly implemented
The CWU is us members. Not Dave Ward and Andy Furey. If we say we are solidly behind the CWU it's not any sort of confidence vote in the leadership of the union. They all smirked and blew it off when they cocked up the legality of the strike action TWICE last year, for me they've been all talk. The solidarity is between the members. I'd vote for a complete overhaul of the leadership.
Are you a member of the CWU?
Yes. I was also a CWU rep for three years from 2002. In a previous job I was a shop steward. I am a union person through and through.
I don't accept poor representation.

And considering Dave Ward was previously so aggressive when stating 'we'll strike 'til next Christmas' I don't understand how he got us to this position.

They told us ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Since then, my office has been transformed. At least 10 long term employees have moved on, the rounds are bigger, 25 jobs came out and there is no stability or structure.
The CWU asked me to report any issues in my office, I did. Five or six other staff also reported issues. Nothing has been done. The CWU rep left his post and the replacement guy is on sickness leave.

Enough wasn't enough.
To call for stronger leadership and direct action against your employer isn't being militant.

Why not do it yourself as deputy rep!

This might be one of the very few posts that I agree with you on :Applause

I'm a union man but the CWU is becoming something of a laughing stock as they don't know whether to go sh*t or go shave. If they don't agree with RMs proposals and you have an overwhelming strike mandate, then at the very least you should organise some strike dates to put the pressure back on the employer. And for heaven's sake don't balls it up!!

Can they not see that Royal Mail are bluffing with administration so that they get what they were originally after? Just like they did when they announce that they would be making 10,000 compulsory redundancies. Are we still losing a million pounds a day even though they have been revisions that have made duties unachievable and failing the USO everyday?? If the answer is no, then we don't really need that much more change. But if the answer is yes, then I know that's bull because we were making a profit before the pandemic. And before the pandemic we were delivering less parcels, had more vans and the duties are not as big as what they are now.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
