Why would you wish him to have more work good luck to him if he going at a normal pace even the smaller rounds are enough these days.

More work? He spends an hour at the bookies. He takes his pda home so he can log out without coming back to office. He spends half an hour in the canteen in the morning and makes a point of it.

It’s people like him that ruin it for others.

& your manager doesn’t clock all this but you do?

Surely if he was so blatant the screws would be all over him,especially in the current workplace climate

They are all over it. It’s been going on for years.
Now they can’t hide it because it’s clear as day.

What happens when somebody else covers the duty?

They get sent out with more work or if all mail is delivered they sit in the want putting junk mail together.

Why is it a problem to be used as a performance tool?

Why would they have the tool and not use it at all?

Only a tool would be actively encouraging managers to micro manage us while they sit on their ar$es doing feck all once we have left the office.

Especially as postie's know that the business are lapsing more and more duties and putting more postie's under pressure to complete.

Why would anyone advocate that we should be more like Amazon or any of the other gig employers is beyond me.

I cannot never put myself up for management with a lot of the staff we have... I don't always get on with my managers and I have taken grievance before. One of my managers put in a shift in the 4 hours indoors before we go out - they are mostly doing their job.

For the money and the bonuses that COMs get I would expect them to put in a shift, especially if they are giving us all extra. But the fact is they bugger all most of the time. And if they were really doing their job they would make sure the deliveries get done instead of trying to save on the budget by allowing mail to be brought back on a daily basis - even if it means going out and getting it delivered themselves. Is it really too much to ask??

I'm intrigued though, what was your grievance about with management??

TBF he has started coming back to the office at least now. At least most days. He knows eyes are on him.
