When all is said and done though, you're negating your own strike action.R5001 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2022, 21:37I'm fairly, decisively and completely sat on the side of the "will never work a strike day, but will work overtime otherwise" camp, and frankly I think that's a fair approach. I both support my union and my co-workers, while minimising my personal loss.
I do not believe that helping RM catch up at an extreme cost of overtime and **reputational** loss is significantly impacting the strikes. It does lessen it, I won't disagree, but I don't think it come all that close to nullifying it at all.
I saw some random person delivering dominos junk today! they're one of our D2D mainstays, that has GOT to be hurting!

That is so far off the mark.xPandabear1992x wrote: ↑27 Dec 2022, 17:42When all is said and done though, you're negating your own strike action.
The business is prepared to leave mail in the frame for days on end, fail quality of service targets left, right and centre and blatantly lie that the pipeline is clear so what exactly are you achieving by refusing overtime?
The strikes are all about customer confidence, the idea of a backlog is far more important than the reality.
Negating our own strike action would be placing members in a situation where they have to choose between standing at the gate and feeding their families.

if you work your day off and work your hours and it gives you the extra money to keep you supporting the strike theres nothing wrong with that.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑27 Dec 2022, 17:55That is so far off the mark.xPandabear1992x wrote: ↑27 Dec 2022, 17:42When all is said and done though, you're negating your own strike action.

Why then do they bother asking anyone to work days off/overtime at all? There is obviously a benefit to the business or they would just save the money.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑27 Dec 2022, 17:55That is so far off the mark.xPandabear1992x wrote: ↑27 Dec 2022, 17:42When all is said and done though, you're negating your own strike action.

The fact is, if you are asked to work your day off or do overtime then you are being asked because it helps them. Why else would anyone be asked? If they really were just happy to fail quality service targets then they wouldnt be asking anyone.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
