Re: Friday 2nd Septembers workload
Had to leave a couple of loops. Crazy heavy day. Is it just our office where they aren’t paying extended delivery? It’s like they aren’t even trying to clear mail.

Re: Friday 2nd Septembers workload
We take the whole walk out & once we hit last letter time we both head back to the van regardless of where we are in the walk & everything left comes back, usually 4/5 loops which gets chucked back in & delivered first next day, nothing is ever said by us or line manager, thinking about it I can not remember the last time we spoke, it does get cleared once a week when the rota crew stay out till gone 4/5 even 6pm.

Re: Friday 2nd Septembers workload
At moment people just bring back when it’s there time and manager just accept it, I think they’ve had enough of it all themselves and just saying do what you can dosindba wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 20:07If you're gonna go that far over, you will know before you go out, and should mention it to a manager. Ususally they'll do the old "get all the tracked and specials done" or "see how you get on".kazardaimenu wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 19:52What if you go over by an hour and a bit and then decide you’ve had enough and the manager has already gone home?
If it's unexpected circumstances like your van conks out, no-one would do you for that.
Seriously am I going mad here? Is no-one even telling a manager if they need to cut-off these days?

They can't cope without us. A 1 day strike and it causes mayhem.
Imagine we took 3 or more days off at a time.
Imagine they force us to sign a new contract like P&O and only 70% sign, with many of that 70% then leaving shortly after.
Royal Mail can't stop the parcel/letter tap from flowing.
They'd be better off apologising and coming back to offer us a fair deal.

Re: Friday 2nd Septembers workload
Absolutely. The managers are truly hopeless. Led by the blind. Worst thing is things were far from normal before the strikes. They wing it every day. Major Short staffing. Trainers who get £40 a week to train on easier duties for a week or two then the new starts go on a real walk and end up leaving the company . Dodgy made up figures stating a clear office when mail is lying everywhere . Loads of corrupt policies in which managers “mates” strike deals and the outsiders have to just get on with it. The culture in the job is completely brutal . It used to be a job where everyone would chip in and help out . since van sharing came in that changed . Now it’s a case of certain folk who are in with management breaking out of park and loop and getting own vans and vans home while others have to almost endure a second marriage with a partner they resent and might not do the job as well. There’s no leadership and the morale is at an all time low. There’s no fairness and most walks in office are way too long and new build developments added on and no revisions in over three years. Still lapsing being asked of everyone and still folk taking it out as if it’s normal ??priority102 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 20:33....and THAT, is why things need to change. This company is an absolute laughing stock now. Tell me one other company where a manager would tell you to take all your work out, and bring most of it back, just so he can report his office clear.nuklearpuppy wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 20:18Bundles all banded up then have to bring it back and reprep it. That’s just bonkers
To call it a shambles is too good I'm afraid.
I could honestly write a huge book on the things that happen day by day . Favourites get special treatment and the rest are just pack horses . These strikes won’t ever work if certain folk still come in early, run round, work through breaks and still lead the selfish life loads still do. These people will never understand the true consequences until they are made to deliver in the dark. They’ll probably still go in four hours early and moan though .
That’s just a tiny snippet of life in the office I work at. It’s a complete and utter shambles too to bottom

It's official policy not paying extended at the moment, how long that will last how knows, and I don't really care now!

Makes no sense sending that much mail to an understaffed office.
Had no alternative but to cut off.
Same thing will happen today, if Royal Mail insist on playing silly buggers.

Re: Friday 2nd Septembers workload
I still don’t think Simon and co are as stupid as they look(or should that be sound), they probably know a lot of walks are too long and offices are rarely fully cleared. But this comes back on weak managers who report fully cleared offices to their area manager who then reports further up, even though it’s just a case of us taking everything out then bringing it back. Managers have made a rod for their own back as they can’t now say actually X% of rounds are failing each day, because they’ve been reporting them as clear for years.
It’s a farce. Can you imagine any other job following this system?

Some familiar problems that we can all relate to NP. I particularly liked this one
If you're worried about defeating the object of Striking by working OT and clearing the Office I wouldn't worry.
The main object of our One Day Strikes is not to clog up the system, that's just a byproduct and is more successful in some areas than others. The object is to generate a sense of doubt in the minds of our BIG VVIP Customers (like M & S and John Lewis) ..... get them to put pressure on the board and shareholders .... to in turn put pressure on Simon and his overpaid mates ....to get this problem sorted before the run up to Christmas.
I wouldn't feel guilty putting in some OT to clear the backlog, IF you've been supporting the CWU, and thousands of your colleagues, then you done your bit and the OT may help you support them next Strike Day!

Haha I particularly liked that one as well, had to endure a couple of years of being allocated a mix of newbie's,slowbies and general undesirables that no one wanted to work with, anyway thankfully settled down now with a regular partner and we get on well.Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑03 Sep 2022, 07:36nuklearpuppy wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 23:46

Regards to striking I fully agree, it's starting to sink in on here now that it's not about a backlog, it's about causing unrest with the big customers, day off overtime is available at our office as per all year round probably due to being permanently short staffed so as far as I see it recouping money lost from striking is actually like sticking it to RM.
