Nope. But I did enjoy the job when I started ten or so years ago, it's just progressively got worse year after year.

Where have I heard that before I wonder?richietns wrote: ↑20 Jul 2022, 13:34Then it wasnt for you.CillitBang wrote: ↑20 Jul 2022, 08:12Agree 100%. Best decision I made was leaving. Paid fairly, treated fairly, no ridiculous pressure, no more migraines from driving/heat, no constant arguing with manager about what is actually possible. More energy outside work than I've had in a decade. f**k RM.priority102 wrote: ↑20 Jul 2022, 06:12For those who are sick to the high teeth of the job as it is now, this is how the future lies for you.
Until RM becomes similar to that of other well known courier companies (and it will happen, no matter how long it takes), every working day will be pressure, politics, backstabbing, bitching, hating coming to work, later starts, Saturday 8& SUNDAY working, unrealistic workloads, being pulled up for the pettiest of things, PDA Actuals and Trimble watching your every move, the list goes on.
Even IF yet ANOTHER great deal is agreed, it will only be in force for a matter of months before said deal is in tatters like all previous deals and you are back to square one. Anyone who has been with the company a reasonable amount of time cannot disagree with this.
How many thought that the new CEO would be different? Yes, all started reasonably well but now that he is under pressure from the board and shareholders to deliver more and bring RM into the 21st century, it's back to the toxic atmosphere of the previous CEO. Any future CEO will just be a repeat....
Every "deal" has done in the past and will do in the future, erode parts of your terms and conditions in return for increased pay because that is exactly what the word "DEAL" is.....something for EACH side. So anyone on here who thinks that the company will just keep giving and giving without taking and taking is totally deluded.
The definition of the word "DEAL" is..."an agreement entered into by two or more parties for their mutual benefit, especially in a business or political context". Don't forget, the CWU only ever use the words DEAL and AGREEMENT.
Many on here have decided that there is more to life than being miserable at work, which does impact on life outside work, and have moved on. Everyone on here who has done so have all said that it is the best decision they made, they can't all be wrong.
So yes, you are definitely at a crossroads, you either just stick with it or move on.
Ah yes, from management.

The point is that you pretty much quoted word for word the screws' mantra they trot out when you complain to them. I don't think they learned it from you.

Could certainly do with more energy. Is it any wonder so many staff are on sick? Half of them are knackered with all the miles of non-stop walking and driving that we do and the other half are probably suffering from some sort of mental fatigue of having to wake up and face another walking marathon. And the icing on the cake are the Royal Mail bigwigs trying to make all sorts of changes making working conditions even worse.
So I dig that when someone has found a life outside of Royal Mail

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

They want newbies to work 40 hour weeks and long winter days into the darkness of the evenings.
The people at the top don't have a clue do they. People are going to be sick even more often.
They apparently want to offer flexibility, but this is the opposite.
Offer hours ranging from 30 to 40 hours. Offer 3 or 4 day working weeks. Don't have us working in the dark delivering mail. Pay us fairly. 7%+ pay rise is needed. Banking of hours won't work, especially if you continue leaving us 2 days mail to deliver when we come back from our day off. Maybe a better idea would be to allow Posties to book extra annual leave in the quieter months when you don't need as many staff. Based on seniority you could allow people who want extra time off work to take a weeks unpaid annual leave in months like July. Maybe it would be better if it was half or quarter pay whilst they are off for that week to encourage enough people to take it off and save the company some money. Give extra workload to the rest of the posties to fill their time.

They arent proposing that newstarts are on 40 hour contracts - just that their pay will be based on 40 hours pro rata
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

They didn't but the fact still remains some people don't find it as hard as others do for all sorts of reasons,I've had worse jobs for less pay and longer hours saying that though the future looks abit grim.
