Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
It gets better! I had an email from them on 25 November advising I'd passed the security checks and requesting I attend what I assumed was an induction day at my local Mail Centre, from 06.30 to 13.30 today, Tue 29 Nov (I signed up for late shifts from 5 to 23 Dec). I duly arrived at 06.20, to be told, along with many others, that I 'wasn't on the list', and therefore couldn't enter the building. I checked the list myself, and sure enough, my name wasn't on it. I produced a copy of the email from Angard and asked why they would have sent that to me if I wasn't expected? The Royal Mail guy I spoke to was unable to answer that one, and said I should contact Angard. Now back home, having calmed down a bit, and about to email the Head of HR at Royal Mail to express my dissatisfaction - what a truly micky mouse organisation they are.

Oh yes, it really does. How wonderful of you to make the effort to get up and go down there. How they must have laughed at Angard. Another chump falls for the old email gag! What a priceless bunch of comedians they are. Angard, friendly visitors from the planet Moron. I was supposed to start on the 28th but here I am, a day later, still waiting for confirmation. If I sign on they will probably call. It looks like the start dates are a week later than planned. It doesn't usually get busy until the second week of December anyway. That's when people start panicking and sending a lot of cards. Sounds very quaint doesn't it? In a few years everyone will be using JibJab and other e-cards. That's why the Canterbury depot is closing next year. At least I won't have to worry about my start date. Better luck next time blu-tac man. Are you by any chance related to Morph?

Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
Just an update on my situation. Tried ringing in all Monday (Yesterday) and not once got through to someone who could help me. Gave up and fired off an email to angardxmas.queries@reedglobal.com just stating that I'd passed security checks and had a provisional offer. Gave them all my details in one email, so I wouldn't have to reply or anything stating who I was or what mail centre I applied to etc.
Not sure if it's a coincidence but I have just received a text an email stating my first shift, but no where does it say an induction day or anything? Just an induction doc attached which I will read later. I will take this formal offer with a pinch of salt though as the previous posts in this thread suggest that people are being turned away even having been offered the job.

If I was you, Jamesbcd, I'd ring the centre you're meant to be working in the day before you're meant to start (you can find the number online) and confirm with them they have you on the list, otherwise it'd be a wasted journey. That's what I'm going to do next Monday morning before my first shift, which is meant to be from 2pm that afternoon. And if I'm not on the list Angard/RM can stick their job.

Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
Don't get your hopes up! I never received any email or texts. The only reason i went to attend is because i went onto the RM website to see my status - Security checks passed. I went to Birmingham Royal Mail centre yesterday 28/11/2011 my start date. I got turned away with about 20 others because Angard Staffing got the wrong start date and to go back the next day 29/11/2011 to start. I then went back to start and they asked for my name and i got my Photo ID pass and a high visable jacket. RM then asked me to stand outside so they could sign workers off who had just finished. After 1 hour about 35 of us went back in to be told to look for our surnames on the list and to sign it. The categories - A-E F-K L-T U-Z, Two missing sheets so the majority of people's names was not on the sheet, we then got asked to go outside if your name was not on the sheet. RM then come out and took everyone's names and said they was going to ring Angard Staffing to find out why, After another 20 minutes we got told it was bad news and we couldn't work because Angard Staffing had not put our names down. Basically we could work but wouldn't get paid by Angard. We then got a number to ring Angard to ask why. Roughly around 35 people turned up. 15 could work, 20 got turned away. Its a joke. No representive from Angard Staffing, i wonder why, Shocking Company!
The number we got given - 0845 460 7318

MitchWilkins,
which shift were you meant to be on? I was meant to be on the 14:00 to 22:00 shift and the RM management didnt seem to want to help us that much, let alone give us a phone number for Angard. I had to find it out myself from other people waiting and off this forum.

Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
Had a provisional start date of the 21st november 2011. Turned up for the 22.00-06.00 shift 4 people including me got sent home and said to call angard to did that it took me 4 days to get through to someody and all i got told was to hang on for the email and that there system had been down. Security checks passed way before the 21st november. Emailed them several times and no response tried all the numbers that postman had wrote down on this site. when i went to the face to face interview they put my photo id card on a badge and took my account details which has worried me slightly as the paperwork was left on the desks whilst interviewing other people and was told that aslong as my security checks have passed then i have the job. This is not the case they got my hopes up as many of you will know it is impossible at the moment to get a job. I have a family with christmas coming up and they don't seem to care. I am just sitting around to wait and see if i get a email or a phone call but it doesnt look hopeful each day that passes and it is to late to apply for any other christmas temp work. They need to buck there ideas up and explain things properey in the future and make sure the emails and phones have staff to answer them.

I have also had an e-mail saying hired, start date agreed but nothing for 5 weeks now, no amount of ringing them will get me through to anyone..they are not answering the phone now and it just tells you to e-mail them, having done that twice and they do not answer that. Frustrating to say the lease

Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
I went in for my interview on the 12th of October here in Sheffield, have passed my security checks, was offered a provisional start date of the 29th of November, went in and was not listed on the sign on sheet. For the last four weeks I have been calling the different phone numbers and have only been led in circles. Angard Staffing: What a joke.

Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
Just managed to actually speak to someone at Angard who told me not to go in unless I got an email or text. I'm supposed to start tomorrow, and all I've got so far is "Security Checks passed." The guy on the phone told me that I might not now be starting until the 7th, or upto the 23rd of December. Great.

Early shift. 6:30 1:30. Its horrible how they treat people. Royal Mail shold know better in employing an agency like this!kim_holt wrote:MitchWilkins,

Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
According to my provisional offer I was supposed to start my first shift at 5.30pm today.
My status on the original application website says 'Hired & Start Date Agreed', however, I have not received the elusive confirmation email.
I have emailed Angard numerous times this week, but have received no response, I have also phoned them many times on various numbers.
The phone has been answered twice, first time I spoke to a helpful lady who confirmed my status as 'hired' & sent an internal email asking for the contract to be sent to me, - still nothing arrived.
Last night I phoned a different number, a young women took all my details & announced she was going to get someone who could help me. After being on hold for 23 minutes I got the feeling she wasn't coming back & put the phone down, tried phoning the same number but it wasn't answered again.
I rang the sorting office directly this morning to ask if my name was on any list, I was told that despite asking Angard for a list of casual workers they hadn't received one and that as far as they are aware there are no 'casuals' starting today.
I thought about going along anyway, just in case, but it's a 46 mile round trip, so I'd probably just be even more out of pocket.
How can Angard waste peoples time & money like this? I was so pleased because I thought I had a job for a few weeks, but it's just turned into a load of stress, & disappointment.

Re: SECURITY CHECKS PASSED...But still no word!
Seems like we're all roughly in the same boat.
The online application stated I had passed me security checks and a few weeks later received an email with the days I should be working and shift (wrong shift, but I just want to get everything else sorted first), which said:
I went in on Saturday the 26th as during my interview they moved me to weekends and I wasn't on the security checks passed list. They said either way I wouldn't be on the weekday list so to ring up Angard. Been ringing all week and no answer, finally got an answer twice on 0160 462 9381. The first told me that basically the job that was stated in the email was a rough guideline(?) and that I should be waiting for another email to say my checks have passed and if I get nothing till the 9th, ring again.
The second phone call said security checks take two weeks, I told him that a few weeks ago my online application stated that I had passed them so he gave me another number which he said would put me forward to security checks help, they didn't have a clue but gave me another number which is engaged.
I feel like I have achieved nothing, scrap that, I have achieved nothing.
