Doubtful it'll be 6.30 start especially Sunday. How early do packets get sorted by in your office? You'd be lucky to be starting before 10am in ours. Pretty sure you can't be knocking on people's doors at 7am on a Sunday.

Sunday work is coming but it’s on a vol basis to start with,then the revision will take place and the Sunday will be part of duties I believe it will be for part times to pick,

It will be for anyone to pick. No chance of it being 0630 - 1330. The LAT’s will be part of the duty is my guess so I would say 1200 - 1900 maybe a little earlier on a sat/sun.

Bit concerned about all this. As a reserve well down the seniority who normally acts as an unsigned floater I suspect I'll be left with an 'opportunity' to work lates and weekends. This may work for some but not for those people with children and partners who work the classic 9-5 Monday to Friday.

Know what you mean, don’t mind doing my share of lates or Sundays but wouldn’t want to be forced on them eventually as a reserve all the time

At the moment Sorting starts at 5AM.

It's not going to be an early start on a Sunday.
It'll be an LAT style back shift.

The idea is to capture the market of the Saturday evening shoppers up to 11pm at night.
You can only do that with Sunday afternoon deliveries.
Also you'll piss off a lot of customers getting them up early on a Sunday.

At the moment Sorting starts at 5AM.

Jeez, there's been nobody at our office at 5am for about 10 yrs!

Sounds awful to me, definitely not 'too good to be true'.

Working the weekend, every weekend.

What would be good is if we could all have the option of a more flexible way of working.

My preference would be to either work 5 days, Mon - Fri, with the weekend off and Royal Mail get in a weekend workforce. 1 day off at a time feels like I am forever working, a day flies by. It's Sunday today and I'll be right back to work tomorrow. There is not enough of a physical and mental break.

My ideal situation would be to work 3 or 4 days a week and preferably weekdays only. But this would probably be too good to be true if this was ever offered.

Any extra pay at least for the Sunday

I don't have my payslip with me but it's around £5.60 an hour extra.

Are you sure about that?
I haven’t done a Sunday for a few years but it was only about £1 an hour extra when I did them.

I've always liked the idea of a sort of '4 on 4 off' type rotation. I've no idea how it would be implemented practically, but in such a way that you always have the 4 days together and not split up, unless you get a day in lieu or work overtime. I'd happily take something like that.
