It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
Which is why IMHO that we have to draw a line in the sand and not cross it. Otherwise Royal Mail will keep trying to eek out more and more from us humble posties.

When the closure of Hanley Crown Post Office in Stoke-on-Trent was announced along with 70 others, CWU members of Stoke Socialist Party launced a petition to fight the closure.
The petition calls for
NO TO JOB LOSSES, CUTS AND CLOSURES
NO MORE POST OFFICE CLOSURES
BOYCOTT WH SMITH - DON'T SHOP THERE!
END PRIVATE SECTOR LEECHING OFF OUR POSTAL SERVICES
Over 3500 people have now signed our petition
We have aslo produced 5000 "SAVE HANLEY POST OFFICE" posters which explain on the back why we are opposed to these closures and what ordinary people can do to fight against the closures.
Posters and petitions can be downloaded from our website at www.stokesocialistparty.org.uk where the on-line petition can be signed and updates on the campaign are also regularly posted

My city Coventry is on that list and is ear marked for closure along with the Mail Centre/Sorting Office. This has caused up roar across the city - uniting all the political parties to fight the decision. The newspapers have been printing endless letters from the public but when the city MP's wanted to meet with Royal Mail officials - they were turned down because RM have not yet set a date for consultation!
I get the impression RM are waiting for the "fuss" to die down and then they will set a date so that less people will respond.
This is a public service that should remain for the benifit of the nation, not greedy shareholders who will only be concerned about profit not people.
With post office limited losing millions of pounds a year they had to make changes and make them fast.So they had to sell off some of their office's ,thankfully there is WHSmith to carry on providing the post office services in those communties that will lose thier crown office
Is it the governments fault or is it POST OFFICE MANAGERS bleeding us dry - look at the salaries of POL bosses COOK , FLYNN etc and their bonuses and RM bosses to find out where all the money has gone and don't forget that the pension black hole was CAUSED by them taking a holiday for 15 years!

I agree in part with what you say Sammy but part of the PO demise has been due to the very Government departments who should have been supporting it - they have taken their business elsewhere.
To me, it's a disgrace that the nations assets (Crown PO's) are being sold off, never to be returned. It's clear and blatant asset stripping and as a nationalised industry the Crown offices should remain in the public domain not private companies like WH SMITH who can close them down whenever they choose.
This idea of the crown office's being goverment owned or private owned has never been completely clear to me....because if they do belong in the public domain and goverment run...then surely the public would have been allowed a say on any closure's?More likely scenario is that Pol is a private company with some goverment support therefore is entirely POL's perogative wheather to franchise loss making Crown office's.
