A lot of us don't agree with it but manager has set it is settled.
Apparently an email was sent to the union rep but he is based elsewhere and doesn't ever give a crap about our office so we never see him.

Are they allowed to do this for a start?
If I come in at my usual hours is there anything they can do?
Should we be getting 30 mins unsociable hours pay per shift?
Surely this means our finish time moves to 13:30 instead of 14:30, so do I have every right to cut off at this time regardless of the time of year?

You start and finish earlier, so whats the problem?? Yes, you are correct your finish time will be an hour earlier at 13.30 and you do still have every right to cut off at this time.

The shift allowance thing is a bit vague. It usually covers night time working hours between 11pm to 6am but this can be flexible between workers and the employer. Something tells me that Royal Mail will not pay staff any shift allowance for coming in at your time, but if you do not wish to do it and your union has agreed to it?? Then your only option is to put in a written grievance to your employers
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

We have been given the option to start early throwing off our walks, good for me as I cannot work beyond my time from Wednesday to friday and won't do so on a saturday. We still have to work till our finish time. If we do that we book the early bit as overtime, if we finish early then obviously we don't get the overtime. I'd like to start earlier than they suggest but that isn't an option, at the moment anyway.
