Also amazes me how a parcel can travel across the globe ( track no RC797904460CN china post) and the moment it's handed to Royal Mail it promptly 'vanishes' into thin air,maybe they should try a different industry as the one they're in dosen't seem to suit them.
The reason for the brief discription was incase it lost the address label,a more detailed discription was passed to CS via email and considering this site is nowt to do with royal mail I didn't see any reason to post a more accurate account on here.
Needle and haystack.

This is my first post (excuse the pun - post) and I appreciate the efforts to which the forum staff go at answering customers' queries. Here is my own...

I posted a letter in Larnaca, Cyprus address to Bristol on Thursday 23rd October. The tracking number I received from the Cyprus postal service was: RQ000429571CY.

Inserting this into http://www.track-trace.com/post shows that the letter is with the Royal Mail at Langley HWDC and arrived there on Saturday 25th October. However, inserting this same tracking number into the Royal Mail’s tracking service https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item does not show its location which is strange since it must have been scanned by the RM when it arrived at Langley (Status: Please try again. The reference number you have entered may be incorrect. Please check and try again……..Signed item is not yet available.)!

Should I be concerned or is this normal? If normal, when do you guess that it might arrive in Bristol (and I appreciate that it is just a guess).

If I had posted it without it being Recorded Delivery would it have left Langley by now for Bristol?

Thank you for any advice.

Its showing on the other RM tracking site http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

25/10/14 16:09 RECEIVED IN UK HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC

If its international recorded then it probably won't get scanned till its delivered, there is also a chance that the postie may not recognise it needs scanning as it will travel through the system as a normal item.

I would check with the receiver to see if they have got it early next week.

An update - letter was delivered some time yesterday (Thursday) but the tracking system I used still says Langley. Never mind, it has arrived safely!
