The problem with this is that the correspondent was asking for operational information. Neither the CWU, nor this Forum, is the correct place to obtain such information, it is via Horizon Online Help, or the Network Business Support Centre.subbie wrote:So if I have understood you correctly, there is no need to join a Union, cos this site will provide you with everything you need to know.....for FREE !
Wow why didn't I think of that?
Hey the guy wanted to know where to get the information, I told him where, and yeah you have to join the Union first cos thats how Unions work.
Problem?

Re: Mail segregation
Seems to be little difference between CWU and NFSP, any questions to pol they refer me to my NFSP rep, I try to point out that this is not a 'closed shop' and besides the NFSP is an asswipe of POL, simply rubber stamping every piece of bullshit put out by pol. Now we got CWU gestapo here telling us we have to join them to get a simple question answered, pay their subs just to see them rubber stamp the bullshit that rm management put out ? Sooner the po network is down to 4 mega-offices with 3 hour waits, and a counter corner at every spar waiting for the drunk to get his fags, his beer, his 20 lottery lines, and his dole for the 7th time this week, the better. And sooner rm is taken over by a company that knows how to get some work out of their staff, the better.

Re: Mail segregation
AIS, given that sub offices received about 3 'clarification' segregation notices in 6 months, I'm surprised you only got 2 'wrong'. I figured after calrification number 2 that if the pol stats were honest and correct, there should have been zero compliance with rm segreagation requirements. According to pol though, offices overall had about 75% compliance. Means most offices weren't listening to pol (which is probably why the network has survived up until now) . They did finally send a helpful little list to stick over each sack, so any fuckups are down to pol now, far as I'm concerned.

Re: Mail segregation
We were told our mixed bag failed but not why it failed so we are none the wiser. Think its something to do with When does an Airmail letter become a packet. Pricing structure very confusing. The BFO wrote:Horizon Help>Help Home>F2 Postal Services>F2 General Information>F6 Q-S>F11 Segregation of Mailtoyraman wrote:How often Royal mail audits mails from the post office branches?
How do we get the mixed bag right?
Can anyone give us ideas to improve our mail segregation at the post office.
Thank you.

Re: Mail segregation
I was told that my branch had 12 packets in the mixed mail bag. I find this extremely hard to believe, I could maybe understand 1 or 2 being put in accidentally but not 12. As mentioned before, how do Royal Mail differentiate between an airmail letter and an airmail packet? This definitely needs to be fully clarified.

As I understand it and I may be wrong.
A airmail packet is just that - any item of post that isn't a airmail letter.
An Airmail letter is any item of personal correspondence.
So if you have a parcel with a bottle of small bottle of sauce and nothing else its a packet. If the same bottle of sauce has a letter accompanying it then as long as its less than the size limits its an airmail letter.

Re: Mail segregation
That's changing on 2nd April though. Airmail and surface letters are going to be based on format (size/thickness/weight) not contents.
Mail segregation checks should use the plastic PIP templates to determine formats

The International size based pricing is not going to be introduced on 2nd April. It will probably be introduced later in the year.barrowc wrote:That's changing on 2nd April though. Airmail and surface letters are going to be based on format (size/thickness/weight) not contents.

Re: Mail segregation
^ You are indeed correct - oops. I thought it was being introduced in April but not enforced until some unspecified later date. Instead it's just not being introduced at all until some unspecified later date
