Moral good at mine. (in the North East)

Obviously people are getting pissed off at changes, but we are still doing individual walks. People are always calling out stupid stuff and jeering the intercom announcements. The 3 managers I deal with are friendly and talk to you with respect. Don't hear any horror stories but only been there 6 months and don't talk to loads of people.

Seriously though, s**t, so many people want out, it helps on the rare occasion when we get a decent manager and not the usual c***s that parade around the office like they own it.

Yes, we still have a laugh and the like but the attitude of managers is crap, I don't go to work to be spoken to or treated like s**t.

The atmosphere in our office is terrible.
we get through managers about one a year .each one seemingly more out of touch than the last.
and after a string of "tabletop" revisions each more bizarre than the last .
the office is on the edge in more ways than one.
As work picks up at the start of term we will fail stress levels will rise and confrontations are inevitable we have no faith in the dim, the area management the cwu.

Oh dear,it does seem to be right across the board,doesn't it.
Yes I know that their are not many other jobs out their,but for people saying THAT THEY WANT OUT,speaks volumes.
Do you remember the days,when we used to walk up and down our customers drives,and smell the egg and bacon cooking?
Now,its people having their evenin meal,also you are seemingly half way round,when the kids are coming out of school...

I know our postman that delivers to us here at home,is totally PISSED OFF.
He has had a season ticket at Arsenal,for 17 years.
But of course,now he has to work longer saturdays,thats gone out of the window ...

In all honesty our office is fine at the moment.

We've had Walk Sequencing, P&L revision etc - reading a lot of the threads on here though I realise we've been lucky to get a decent revision. 3.5hr walks P&L is just the right amount for a 7hr 48 day.

If the walks are 3.5hr, what is your f/t p/t ratio and what time do you deliver your first letter?
I take it you are on a 39hr week.

FT/PT I don't know, more FT than PT though.

39hr week yes, first letter is around 10am, finish at 1.30ish, sign van back in, sort 739's, specials etc and sign out around 2pm. 2.45pm finish time. Yes we need to start taking a 20min break again in the mornings, we have been having it on the back end instead until we get used to the new IPS and walk frames.

On busy days it's tight timewise and we don't hang around, how people are doing any longer than 3.5hr delivery on a 39hr week I don't know.

P&L feels easier to me than doing the previous walks though, I never carried heavy bags anyway but now we split the walks into 2-3 bundle bags and it feels much better. Fortunately we deliver to light mail areas (unfortunately they're also shitholes) so we can do this, I know that to a lot of people 2 bundles will be about 10 minutes delivering and not do-able.

That's one of the things that pisses me off no end, manager says quiet day and yet I'm left humping s**t loads of bags whilst another guy has a few light ones just because he delivers to a s**t hole. He finishes well before his time and I'm sweating my tits off right up to my time. All walks equal, my f***ing arse!!

Problem is those blinkered bastards conveniently only ever see the quiet walks, the people who finish early....

Morale is through the floor at our D.O and we haven't had our P&L revision yet ! Plenty of B&H and we are to be balloted for I/A over this. I can see a lineo getting a slap soon as the staff are so wound up , which would be a shame for someone to get the boot due to snapping under pressure.

God help you when you finally have your P&L,we had some good banter in our office but after the revision there is a lot more venom coming from certain mouths,and a lot of people have been shat on from a great height!!!! But hey all walks are equal and the mail is down,SO WE KEEP GETTING TOLD.

Monday & Tuesday have been quite tense, loads of digs & shouts & a few fallouts, not a nice place to work @ the moment

95% of posties have pride in their jobs. They are a face in the community and are doing a service to the community. During covid that pride and will to serve the community was there in such a strange time when so much of the country was locked down in their safe homes on government furlough, gardening by day and watching netflix by night with ale and crisps on tap.

When there were more bicycles on the roads than cars and nobody knew much about the virus or had a cure or treatment for covid we were working with no sanatizer, because all the selfish bog roll, pasta, rice and sanatizer horders had cleaned up. We were paranoind about touching covid gates, covid parcels, covid letters , breathing covid air at work. Nobody dare so much as sneeze , but we ploughed on. That was the early days of covid. We weren't alone, but we were key workers.

And then it started. The British public got more confident and started ordering parcel after parcel after parcel. Sanatizer finally arrived along with company masks. We worked our bollocks of for two years and we took pride in our jobs like we always did. Some of our team died or lost loved ones through covid. Some of our team suffered mental anxiety through it all, but we ploughed on.

Fast forward over two years later. We are given 2% payrise when inflation is running at 10%. Our terms and conditions are about to be ripped to shreds. Talk about kicking a person when they are down. Were we used to be threatened with conduct for bringing back or leaving one letter, we are now told to stream letters. Stream as much as you have to. Doesn't matter if they don't go today or tomorrow just as long as they aren't NHS letters, because of course they have to go today. Sod the rest of the letters if you haven't got time, its ok they can go another day.

Oh and now we are a parcels company that delivers letters. If you haven't got time, just remember to deliver all the special deliveries and tracked parcels. Maybe even the recorded ones. If you haven't got time to deliver all the others, because the rounds are to big and we need you to take you lapsed out don't worry about then. They can go tomorrow or whenever.

Yep morale is low, very low and the pride has long been beaten out of us.
