I can understand strike action when the operator is making a profit but logic defies me having a strike when they are making a loss. How long would you like to strike for? Think the response is likely to be take as long as you like. I am sure your new owners are going to be delighted to have you on board. Not.

Sorry to be blunt but you don't appear to be in full possession of the facts and therefore your opinion is likely to be dismissed by many.

Fact 1 - Crown Offices as Part of POL made a profit and from all reports I have seen are indeed well on the way to doing so again.
Fact 2 - Directors got Millions of Pounds in Pay rises this year.
Fact 3 - Managers from Branch Level to Directors got pay rises this year.
Fact 4 - Everyone else (including me) got a pay rise last year and will get one in April.
Fact 5 - Crown Offices as Part of POL will not be privatised as part of the Postal Act.
Opinion 1 - They may be mutalised and they may even be transferred and so get "new owners" but that isn't a fact its an opinion.
Fact 6 - Crown Office Counter staff did not get a pay rise last year and they have been told they won't get one this year. That's 2 years of static pay.
Fact 7 - RM gave all their people in RML as part of a 3 year agreement pay outs on Colleagueshares up to £1000 - Crown Office colleagues did not.
Opinion 2 - Counter Staff both deserve a pay rise on both fairness and moral grounds and I fully support them in their action.
opinion 3 - Astroturfers to be any good have to at least educate themselves on opposing views otherwise their input is easily spotted and dismissed.

As I mentioned earlier - Astro Turfers are easy to spot Obi may not be one but he sure shows some of the classic signs of being one.

They post rumours as facts.
They pretend to be on your side but try to undermine your position.
They ignore facts that don't fit their agenda.
They will leap on any poster they perceive as either weak or a threat.

Andy's already mentioned both the bank holiday weekends in April as a possibility at the meeting in Liverpool. He must also look at royalmailchat like rwbarker.

We already have that, they go under the job titles of Business Development Manager, and Sales Effectiveness Manager, and arrive when we have things called 'Focus Days'.

I couldn't agree more about trying to sell stuff customers a) do not want and b) if they do want it they know fine they can get it cheaper elsewhere. POL is the largest RETAIL network in the country. Isn't it about time they realised that and started selling RETAIL products. The purchasing power they have is totally unrealised. Why not use the strike to get changes made in that department. Ditch BOI and bring in partners that can earn the Counter Staff commission on saleable products. Just one or two different products each week. A digital camera one week, a mobile phone the next, handbags and scarves, perfume and lipstick, discount tokens, loyalty cards the list is endless.

Its easy to sell stuff when you know your customer is getting a bargain and your customer knows it too.

Would these items not be more appropriate as weekly prizes in a television game show run by a pair of mischievous urchins who I believe go under the names of ‘Ant and Dec’? Not that I would know of course since I watch nothing other than the BBC, and, naturally, Post Office Focus TV. Are those young lads a couple of Financial Specialists, broadcasting in their spare time from a corner of their bedroom? Does any Crown Office actually have the sound turned on so they can be heard? I watched yesterday, whilst listening to radio Five Live, and munching a sizeable pasty, for any sign of a Management response to the ballot result. All I could see was a young lady orchestrating something called a ‘Biz Quiz’, and asking what the initials ‘CViT’ represented.

It’s all rather extraordinary.
