I still can't see how a Union that I went on strike for, could roll over and play dead on such a straightforward and important earnings related issue.

There was a clue given in the CWU Foundations for a new delivery model from March 2009.

Shorter Working Week
Aim to reach 35 hours (Net) over a set period.
Consider what the union is prepared to offer. Door-to-door and monthly pay are potential bargaining chips.

what is the set period for the 35 hour week, do you know? i.e. next year, year after...when hell freezes.

This week I received 5 items of d2d to be delivered, 3 of which were double glazing companies.

I don't look at them. I couldn't tell you what the 4 door to doors I delivered today were for. Could have been windows, Sky, Asda or Durex, I just don't waste my time looking. I get paid to put one through every door so I do.

Same here, I don't care if they're for escort agencies, sex toys or sexy underwear I just deliver them.

Wasn't part of the 2010 agreement that the D2D restrictions be lifted but they would all be put in one envelope per house? That seems to have gone out of the window. We only get 4 days to do our D2D here in Guildford, Tuesday to Friday, a row per day, takes about 30 mins to throw them into the frame each day!

But the reason people think this is because they have misunderstood this paragraph from Page 21 of the agreement:

The CWU will be involved in quarterly review meetings, which will provide an opportunity for the CWU and Royal Mail to review operational challenges, product developments, and work together to identify new products and further growth opportunities, including the potential for automation which will be driven by commercial viability linked to volume.

So nothing about when or even if. Thats the thing with potential, like a bomb that has the potential to explode, it also has the potential not too.

Having all the d2ds in one envelope was NEVER going to happen, there is no way in hell that the companies sending them would allow their d2ds to be placed together in an envelope with all the other d2ds which would allow the person receiving them to bin the lot without even looking at them.

Agree with you SP, wasn't so long ago that we were "Trained" (?) not to even put all the little D2Ds into the Large one. They had to be thrown off Separately, to avoid just the sort of thing you mention. As we know our customers always take time to read all their D2Ds.

You can overload all other bags over 11kg if you want or allow.

I was under the impression not that kilrenny had 15 d2ds, but that 15 items from one particular contract (as in 1 d2d) came to a weight of 2kg?

i find it embarrassing handing over 6 door to doors with abit of mailsort junk..as you walk away you feel a number of things.

1. customer is looking at it and thinking... should i give it back

2. customer just turns and throws it in the bin

3. eyes burning in the back of your head with them looking at you from behind thinking exactly where they would like to shove all that you just handed them

Don't let it worry you mvale, it's the same as the old favourite, "We don't want any bills Postie you can take them back!" Just give them a big and say, "It keeps me and the Re-Cycling man busy" and walk off.
