How can we have sympathy with the strikers when there are managers like this in the sorting offices?
Umm - we are striking because of management nationally and locally in some cases, just to be clear.

The D2D payment sheet which should be signed daily to say where you have delivered them list the Opts on it, and evens says "No Opt Outs on this duty". However the Opt Out only lasts 1 or 2 years and then you need to reapply.

simosimpson why do you want to stop 'junk mail'?
Is it that bad,do you turn the tele/radio off when the ads come on?
This 'junk mail' as it is known subsidises the service and the price of a stamp.

Ok i'm biased,but is it really that hard to bin it after you have read it,and are you telling me that everything that you receive is useless?

Oh and one more thing,Martin Lewis he of http://www.moneysavingexpert.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You may be surprised to read this but it's important to say, unlike phone messages where it's all a load of ridiculous nonsense, junk mail can sometimes work in your favour. A lot of best buy financial products, such as credit cards are often only available if you receive them as targeted Direct Mailings. For example, the longest ever 0% balance transfer card lasting 18 months was a direct mail offer.

Be careful what you wish for!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

as for the poster i really think hes may be alf garnet...
and i am still not sure he knows or even wants to know what hes ranting about.
but i will try..
you can only opt out of unaddressed mail.
everything else by law must be delivered
as the sender has spent money to send it to your address,thats a contract between the customer and royal mail.if you donot want it tell the sender.
but you will never stop it unless you join a mail prefferance service.
every time you fill in a survey or give a company an address you will get more junk
that company then sells on the info to lots more companies..you join a mailling list..
http://www.junkbuster.org.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

great site stops all junk mail..phone books the lot...will not stop your local takeaway or shop though

Why is it always the posties fault. We only do what we are told to do by our managers. Failing to deliver our leaflets leaves us open for the sack. Most posties hate delivering these items. PLEASE, PLEASE stop blaming us posties for all that is wrong with the service, it's bad enough getting hassle from the managers only to get out on your walk and then get it from the customers. It's the posties that care for the customers, management could'nt care less as long as they get their bonuses.

Seal your letter box up and get a Mail Collect from your local Delivery Office, then all you have to do is visit the local D.O. a couple of times a week then throw away anything you don't want before you get home. Also sealing your letterbox you won't be getting the other leaflets that other firms like TNT deliver, Pizza's etc.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I deliver door 2 doors to every house, apart from 3 houses that have officially opted out. There are a few I don't deliver to because they have personally asked me, very nicely, to not deliver door 2 doors to them. I have of course told them to send a letter to royal mail to opt out officially, but as this system is so inefficient, its just easier to not deliver to that one address. No one will find out, and the occupant certainly won't complain they hasn't received it!

If someone has asked not to have door 2 doors, then just don't deliver it - there's no reason why not. It is just respect for your customers. Most junkmail is never read anyway, or used.
