Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
6 hour delivery span.... people will be dropping like flies.
Currently, from first delivery point to last delivery point we are out there for 3 hours 40 minutes
A 6 hour delivery span would mean 5 hours 40 minutes from first delivery point to last. 2 hours more of delivery. My legs are going to fall off.
The CWU are going to agree to us walking ~60% more than we are now? ~6 more miles a day?

Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
A 40-hr employee has eight solid hours of graft to supply each day. At our place, even double mail on a walk, plus all the tracked, specials, boxes, and customer collects, is expected to be fully cleared within an eight-hour shift, though you might be allowed just to do that for your whole day’s work if it is a proper rotter and the managers can clearly see it is. How can the 40-hr posties at your office not be clearing even a single walk? Our gaffer would be all over it like a rash and anyone consistently falling short would be out the door. Beginning to seriously wonder if my office (and the other offices in our region) are in some sort of parallel universe to the rest of Royal Mail!A2B wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 17:57Well that certainly doesn't happen in my office, at the moment like everyone else in the office they are not completing 1 walk let alone 2Smoothbackground wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 17:50It is the norm for new-contract 40-hr posties. Royal Mail are transferring up to 14 million parcels to Parcelforce starting the end of July this it is on the latest LTB on another thread ,kazardaimenu wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 17:55Makes no sense to have one guy taking big parcels and one guy taking smaller parcels. the detail;s are shown below , cannot see them needing DPR drivers then .
We are already doing royal mail parcels now at Parcelforce but have been told there will be a huge increase end of July this year .
(Transfer in financial year 25/26 of up to 14m large parcels (F4 and above) from the RM network to PFWW, this may be via direct from customer or MC/HUB in line with the BRT&G commitment to the development of a single large Parcel Network) .

Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
If they are expected to clear, even with double mail....it sounds like their duties are too small. Total assumption here....but are the 40 hour walks in your office the same size as all the other walks....cos they should be bigger - they are in our office.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 18:39A 40-hr employee has eight solid hours of graft to supply each day. Yeah, your office sounds like it is in some sort of parallel universe lol in fact you talk exactly like someone who has never done a real walk in their life, never mind a 6 hour spanSmoothbackground wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 18:39A 40-hr employee has eight solid hours of graft to supply each day. How will that happen? One driver takes large and small tracked from 2 duties. Two posties take everything from another two duties.

The big parcels are going to Parcelforce , Starting end of July apparently , The LTB quote is shown below ,

No, we don’t have different walks to anyone else — or fixed walks for that matter. We are all RTI and cover different walks each day depending on where we are needed, usually filling in as one half of a van share with an old-contract postie (ie one of the dutyholders). And the duties definitely aren’t too small either.norris9 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2025, 18:46If they are expected to clear, even with double mail....it sounds like their duties are too small. The arrangements for those new-contract employees on less than 40 hours is slightly different — a good few of them have managed to get their own duties, albeit duties that no one else seems to want and which have been vacant, and happily work on van share duties with legacy staff. One lad on a 40-hr reduced his contract to 30 hours so he could get a fixed duty and go home at the same time as his van partner.

I hope this happens, taking the large away would make a difference. However, I will believe it when I see it happen.

I did a 6hr 20min outdoor span today, thanks. And yesterday. As for your good self and your own bona fides, I have every reason to suspect that you aren’t even a current RM postie or employee. Indeed, I have even greater reason now to suspect that our old chum CarryingMgMnt whiles away his lonely hours at home watching endless reruns of London’s Burning and eating tubs of Ben & Jerry’s Fish Food, only moving from his seat when he hears the distant but unmistakable squeal of a RM Fiat Doblo as it makes its weekly visit to his street, whereupon he leaps up from his seat and tortures the poor postie with 25 minutes of shop talk and rubbish about how the job has gone down the pan. When the poor postie finally escapes, London’s Burning, erm, I mean, CarryingMgmnt, comes onto Royal Mail Chat to continue to vent his vitriolic, negative and wholly unhelpful rubbish. Isn’t that right, LondonsBurning?

Re: Whats coming in your daily routine
This thread is about “What’s coming to your daily routine”. I was highlighting how it works for us new-entrant staff as that is probably a good gauge for how the company wants its resourcing to work in the future. That was my point. Some might venture to suggest that, as an ex colleague, you shouldn’t be poking your nose into matters like this, but I shall on this occasion leave it for others to make that point.
