20 hour contract covering a 30 hour duty

It all depends what contract you are on and how long you have been employed. We don't have runs, we have duties and walks. Contracts do include overtime clauses. Contracts are often issued with hours less than the duties in an office. This is because the CWU let's it happen. The requirements of the office are laid out in the resourcing plan. If there are 20 hour duties you should be covering them before any other duty. Duties are allocated on seniority and contract hours. However many offices had their duty structures collapsed during COVID and they have never been put back.

If there is any. Considering there's none the rest of this week. The main point I was wanted to know was can I just do my 20 hours on a 30 hour duty and would I be questioned on it. If other colleagues are going to dictate what run I should be doing because they don't want to and the manager thinks that's ok and says nothing about it then just out of spite, I'm going to do my 20 hours and fail a mountain of stuff. If it was me saying I didn't want to do it, I wouldn't get away with it. I'm the youngest in my DO and it feels to me my manager is trying to boss me around because everyone else is probably older than him but I'm not being walked over.

Your contracted to do 20 hours so there should be no problem

Like I say if any manager gives you grief about it, just tell them that if they need you to do 30 hours then you'll sign a 30 hour contract but until then its your choice

Which is OK if you can survive on 20 hours a week indefinitely with no overtime if the manager then finds somebody else who wants the extra hours?

I'm on 30 hours but made to do the work of a full-timer, so go figure. I was asked to come in an hour early to prep the walk and to deliver it as well, AND do the absorbtions, all in 6 hours, which I can just about manage if I run around like an idiot or quite often, go over by 10-15 mins.

That's why the job is fxxxxd. Why are you running around, not taking your break, going over ( probably not claiming for it). Your manager is a muppet. Don't let him treat you like one . FFS STAND UP FOR YOURSELVES. A lot of you act like kids who is scared of the big bad manager. I'm surprised some of these real shitehole managers haven't been weathered at frames or outside the job. Only so much a man can take.
