We still have over 50% of the walks left in every day.. first class second class makes no odds.
What’s going on in your office?? - managers should be sacked
Our office is clear every day
That would be 60-70% of the Uk Managers getting sacked then Qwerty!
I go to 6-7 delivery offices per wk, NONE of them clear, some really do deliver 50% or LESS per day.
I would suggest your delivery office is the exception rather than the rule.
Definitely the exception rather than the rule. There’s an awful lot of non-recording of failed mail going on so if no one records it, does it exist?

Actually this could work & save RM money, less staff in on a Saturday, Monday to Friday duties, no rota or day off cover needed, makes perfect sense, for once a good idea from RM
Really, 300 million savings on 1000 redundancies!
Maybe a little saving on fuel/energy.
1st class delivery spans that are 3 times as big as they are now.
With Delivery 2.0, 2nd class every other day, seasonal hours, who is going to be Managing this nightmare?

There has been nothing to indicate that more staff will be able to look forward to having more Saturdays off. The operation will still be running 7 days a week.

How RM think this will save money is beyond me. We’ll still be heading out 6 days a week with mail. It costs more to deliver parcels without mail than it dones with, so reducing the amount of mail delivered at the same time as parcels, increases costs.

It’s about reducing the expectation of service, not about saving money at all.
You would have 1 person covering 6 walks on a Saturday doing first class and tracked.

You would still be working 1 in 3 Saturdays and would still need day off covers.

Make a note of how many Tracked you scan in tomorrow morning and times it by 6. That will give an indication of whether it would be possible to do 6 walks and finish within time.

I didn't say it was possible, but that's the plan 🤷

The plan’s hilarious. We currently have a ban on doing XS on a Saturday, so anything over has to either be left for Monday or done as overtime. If they bring the new plan in, Monday’s will be an absolute bonfire.

You are assuming that everything else remains constant, which it probably won't.
It isn't going to happen overnight.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Mid 2025 before any decision so could be a year away at least.

Does anyone know what % of mail per day is 2nd class versus 1st class mail?

Also, not been mentioned here yet, but they are hiking 1st Class stamps by £0.30 to £1.65..... RIP letters, surely this increase will decrease letter volumes by a big % over the next year or so. Xmas cards are not worth sending anymore at that price.

I can't even conceive the idea of any office being clear, we haven't been for a decade, but now it's worse than ever. Well over 50% left behind, small untracked packets swamping frames. A revision ongoing and going to make things a lot worse.

Is the revision tabletop or being done by overpaid external planners?

It would be good to know that number. A scan of my mail today and I only had 3 1st class, and I had double mail. I think they are edging the price of 1st up to being the same as a tracked letter to then make people opt for tracked 1st instead.

That has been the plan since Thompson was made CEO. He was no "fall guy" he was installed for the purpose of creating a parcel company - letters are not wanted. That has been the target all along. He was only dumped after he became a liability with his performance in front of the Select Committee and giving scripted interviews.
Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.
