Surely if someone has young children or caring responsibilities then Royal Mail would have to look at job sharing as a viable option? A while ago the managers in our office said that if anyone was affected by the later start/finish times as regards childcare then they would look at this. Whilst it looked to me like a tick boxing exercise, what they really didn't want was any staff scheduled to start and finish any earlier than others, preferring to give indoor overtime to staff on IPS instead.
If they aren't allowed to start and finish earlier then the only other option would be to allow them to work fewer days.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Job Share on delivery
I absolutely can confirm RM do allow job shares. There are at least 10 people in my office who job share walks. I think they all work 3 days.
What I also know is that managers often just instinctively don't like the idea and just invent nonsense to justify them not having to do the limited amount of work that creating a job share would entail.

Yes, it’s down to whether the manager takes issue with the idea. But surely, if the job is covered, who cares? There are none in our office and reducing hours is like splitting the atom. It’s all awkwardness for no reason.DGH wrote: ↑09 Sep 2024, 12:56I absolutely can confirm RM do allow job shares. There are at least 10 people in my office who job share walks.
