How are Royal Mail organising rounds for 40 hour contracts

ok, based on these replies - different offices have different setups for the 40 hour workers...

A few comments here say the 40 hour contracted rounds are the same size as everyone else and they finish at the same time as everyone else, but they do more sorting in the morning.

One comment says they do a round then come back and mop up mail that wasn't cleared, so I assume they finish later then people on less hours?

In my office they finish later than everyone else and are put on larger rounds..... this is surely going to cause problems and is why I asked the original questions. I don't see how they fairly distribute workload when there's always people on the older contracts leaving and new 40 hour contract workers coming in. If new 40 hour people are supposed to be on bigger rounds....then you constantly have to make old contract rounds bigger - if you don't - you are giving people different workloads, which is not right.

Would it be a stupid suggestion to put new full time contract posties on whatever the net amount of work an old 37 hour contracted person is supposed to do so roughly 34 hours Inc paid breaks.

Makes sense to me then the same amount of actual work is expected.

The same way that part timers are at our place, they do 3 8 hour days, but don't do any extra work on a Monday, Friday or Saturday when we work less than 8 hours. And yet management are paying docket for early sorters

In our gaff, most of the 40-hour staff start now at 9.00 am. They do a full duty in the morning, either solo or as part of a pairing, and then they go back out solo in the afternoon to mop up wherever needed - either finishing what didn’t get finished in the morning (double or triple mail is the normal workload), doing other lapsing, LATs, tracked, etc…. Sometimes they do two whole duties in a day, though the afternoon duty is minus specials, customer-collects and large tracked.

Can't see many of them sticking at it long.

The six or so of us on 40-hr contracts at our place have all done Xmas rush before. This forthcoming Xmas will be my third at RM.
