Managers will just use the standard excuse of sick absence

The "high numbers off sick" line Would be slightly less insulting to us and the wider public if the numbers of whole rounds failing wasn't at least twice the number of those off sick.

Thank goodness we had 15% of our duties cut out in early spring or the numbers would look even worse due to the number of people who have walked since Xmas...Funnily enough also about twice the number we currently have off sick.

But somehow we are apparently still overstaffed and underworked so another 12% of duties are to be cut and pasted on to any frame that isn't yet at least 75% double slots.

Yes we have to compact the frames to make more room, so we can handle all the parcels more efficiently...yes more room for all those parcels that will no longer be handled by us but be delivered by parcel hub instead.

They really think we're as thick as they are don't they?

And then a few weeks down the line they go back to the walks when it's found that the hubs don't have the capacity to do any of them. They probably need all their staff to clear their own work without getting a load of oversized dumped on them from other areas

Apart from D2D everything that arrives in a DO is due for delivery that day. The difference between 1C/T24 and 2C/T48 is built into when they get processed at the outward MC

The same argument could be used avoid delivering tracked parcels too.
Bird feed in bulk, coca cola in bulk, toilet roll in bulk.shiney new Doc Martins, mops and buckets...
I'd be gobsmacked if there was a person who genuinely needed these items the day after ordering or the day they arrive in the DO.
A preference/desire/want/expectation ≠ need

Meanwhile hundreds of legal letters, fines, medical documents and even prescription medications, items that have real consequences on people's life if not received in a timely manner pile up in DOs up and down the country for days on end.

The only difference, if everything is being done correctly, is that some people have the luxury of reassurance, knowing exactly where there item is.
While the other items can be literally and figuratively be hidden, pulling the wool over the eyes of sender, recipient, and the wider public.

I accept that RM is no longer a public service, but we are a service provider, albeit for profit. And given the nature of that service the blatant dishonesty, lack of integrity, and contempt for our customers and their property which we are temporarily entrusted with is abhorrent.

Whether parcel or letter; T24/48, 1C, 2C or DSA. None of these items belong to us and management need to stop acting like it's their property to do whatever they want with.
We have absolutely no authority to decide what does or does not require delivery on what day. That is for the sender to decide when posting.

Agree with the sentiment and it's all wrong that Royal Mail should be allowed to continually fail the mail by not paying staff to get it covered. It's got nothing to do with Royal Mail's financial situation and everything to do with the company purposely running this side of the business down for greater profits.

And it wasn't that long ago that managers had to go out and get it delivered.......If they are making decisions to not pay staff to get the work covered to save on budgets, then they should at least face the repercussions of failing the work imho


But we all know that fiddling the figures is second nature to Royal Mail. it doesn't get reported!!
