Jealous of being too ill to work? Really? Your health is everything. Don't be wishing ill health retirement. Instead do everything possible financially to be able to retire early hopefully with full health.sixfoottwo wrote: ↑22 May 2023, 21:30Happy retirement General, bit jealous not going to lie!!

I shall clarify if you don't grasp it, I am jealous that The General is retiring from this s***hole that is all.
I wish The General a happy retirement obviously health comes before wealth but we all know this don't we.

Re: Out at Last!
I wish you a happy retirement and good health and reading all that I'm worried you'll may not achieve that. Your anger is off the scale. I've done more years than that and I could walk away tomorrow without regrets and resentment. I've bought a house and brought up a family. What more could I wish ? I've been ill a little but that's old age , it happens. You walked away at the right time and now you need to forget RM completely and stop worrying with all that bitterness.

Best of luck mate. Glad you’re out at long last!

“What’s she been ordering now?”

Re: Out at Last!
Congrats on your retirement. I hope you get to enjoy as much of it as you can. I left a month ago after only ten years and it was an immediate weight off my mind. I woke up one morning and realised I wasn't going to go to work on that day, or ever again if I could help it. After that it was just a question of how to get out. Life's too short for any of us to be wasting it on what Royal Mail wants, if we've got a better alternative.

Congratulations on escaping General Mannerheim! I'm glad I got out ten years ago, just before privatisation. Life in RM was getting progressively worse. I wouldn't be able to deal with life there now from what I hear. Enjoy your retirement!

Congratulations,
I just turned 66, state pension etc , 42 years in a office in NI.
Ur right in everything u say , copy and paste , the aggressive management style is a mantra driven from the top, I am going asp just looking for a part time job for beer money etc.
God help those younger opg left .

Re: Out at Last!
Can't say I blame you what with the state this job and company are in now. Started as a Xmas Casual over 16yrs ago when it wasn't too bad and ended up in delivery... But now, what with the ever growing lapsing and revisions making the job impossible combined with aggressive gaslighting managers... More and more it is akin to being in an abusive relationship.
As soon as the opportunity lands, I'm out of here too

Re: Out at Last!
"As thick as a Boxing Day turd"...absolutely p1$$ed myself at that!
Good Luck General. I left two and a half years ago after over 25 years, best thing I did by a country mile.
Apart from one short visit returning my old uniform as I didn't want it hanging around my home, I haven't been in the place.
I often walk past my old DO as it's near the town centre and I don't even think that I used to work there. So sad after so many years.

Re: Out at Last!
Congratulations mate. I myself retired a couple of weeks ago after 38 years.like you said it started to go tits up when they got rid of the 2nd delivery 20 years ago. When privatisation and vans came in it got even worse. Overall it’s been a good job out in the fresh air but got harder last few years with age. Good luck !
