Re: Special delivery scan
As long as you scanned it No Answer before 1pm, you can just give it to them, scanned delivered.
I do this all the the time. First scan is the timed one.

Re: Special delivery scan
Doesn't need scanning onto the system again pie, but you're right about not handing stuff over in the street.pieoftheday wrote: ↑25 Jan 2023, 19:50Do you mean 1pm? Past 1pm and it fails. Manager told me not to as it would need scanning back onto the system and even then it would be a failure, having said that I have done itvery naughty really as we shouldn't hand out mail in the street
From a Courier letter many moons ago:
I have been told by our registered locker staff that once a barcoded item has gone through the process of ‘not delivered’ on a PDA, it ‘stops the clock’ and the item can’t be rescanned until it has been returned to the office, scanned on an indoor PDA, and then put out again for delivery when requested. My problem is explaining to a customer who arrives home just as you click on ‘no answer’, that the earliest they can have the item is 24 hours later, as written on the ‘Something for you card’. Surely we can adjust the technology to allow for a second attempt as first-time delivery is our target?
Brian Wagstaff, Glaisdale delivery office, North Yorkshire
Tim Stratton, quality and customer manager, replies:
Thanks Brian – this is a valid point. Our policy states that colleagues are not permitted to give mail to people in the street. The only incidence where they should hand over an item once a ‘Something for you’ card has been delivered, is if the customer opens the door while they are still on the customer’s property, ensuring they retrieve the ‘Something for you’ card. This also applies when a postman or woman returns to deliver standard mail items, after they have earlier attempted a Special Delivery. If a customer appears after an item has been scanned as ‘not delivered’, colleagues can simply scan the item again, and follow the ‘delivered’ process. This procedure is documented within our PDA training guides. This second scan does not affect quality of service, as the original scan stops this performance clock and this information should not get overwritten. We must be mindful that under no circumstances should items be scanned as undelivered, without a delivery attempt being made at the delivery point for the address on the item.

It won’t get a doorstep scan when they have to drive 7 miles to the CSP to collect it the next day either.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑25 Jan 2023, 21:33Location data will still show it as not having been scanned at the doorstep

Re: Special delivery scan
Hold up if we are going to be starting later will we just have to do all these straight away and then start the delivery? Won’t have time for lapsing then…

Re: Special delivery scan
In towns and locations close enough to towns they'll probably send a van out with all the SDs. For rurals, maybe an exemption like some of the Scottish islandsSMS1969 wrote: ↑26 Jan 2023, 18:14You will have to find time if these cnuts get away with no finish timekazardaimenu wrote: ↑26 Jan 2023, 17:23Hold up if we are going to be starting later will we just have to do all these straight away and then start the delivery? Re: Special delivery scan
Is it really? I always assumed it was the submit time?
The original poster should've just scanned it not delivered, I've done it a few times.

Re: Special delivery scan
99% positive it's the initial scan, not the submit button that records time and location.
