Every Manager role will have to be reapplied for , for ALL positions below SDL level.
Delivery Office managers will be know known as Customer Operation Managers (COM)
Offices with 2/3 managers will be streamlined and possibly many more units will have a single COM.
This will mean COM X in an office covering 80 employees is on same wage as COM Y in an office covering 20 employees. Seems unfair to be honest. There are alot of good DOMs out there but also many who i think ‘How are you a manager?’

Surely the fact all DOMs would have to reapply for positions possibly on a lower salary is in effect a fire & rehire scheme polished up. This is an effort from Royal Mail to lessen the terms and conditions of management which i find it shocking how brazenly Royal Mail can do this.
I know management would never strike (half of them are not in the union) but i wish they would
Hi Charles. Was there an official statement from Royal Mail regarding this?

Hey
Some of this info was in the original statement from RM, some from speaking to some managers affected.
Think at moment RM are in a consultation with Managers Union CMA, so more info will be released after that. Currently in limbo situation where managers are unsure of what is actually going to happen but this was the original plan from RM painted up as a rosy picture that DOMs can connect better with the frontline staff

When the delivery DOM role disappears, the majority of the 700 DOM's will leave the business, but some will accept the step down the the new line manager role. As Royal Mail are looking to streamline the numbers of managers at each unit , surely many current line managers will be displaced?
How will that work? More managerial job cuts?

Redundancies will be offered.

The proposal is that if you say your interested in redundancy, that'll be presumed to be your first choice, even if you express interest in onbe of the new roles. So a load will go that way, obviously that'll tend to be the ones with the most service.

But also acting managers will not be offered the new roles, Only substantive managers. We've got a DOM, three substantive managers and three acting managers and will need to fill either 4 or 5 of the new roles. So as things stand even if none of them take redundancy, we might end up with a vacancy. That said, those who are offered the new roles may not be offered one in their current office - it may be 'within reasonable travel'.

Hearing the DOM's have until 6th March to state if they intend to stay or leave the business. Anyone else with more details?
