Have been put on parcel duties now.
Few questions from today…
1. Why do we have to scan each individual parcel to give you a dedicated route. I had 80+ parcels today and had to scan each one when loading van. They should be sorted and have a barcode you scan which then downloads your route.
2. No charger in cradle for PDA. Luckily I had batteries for it.
3. Workload within time. What happens if you’re running out of time and don’t want to work over? Other companies would give you a manageable workload and ur last drop is calculated on ur PDA so you know you won’t be out till after 5pm for example.
4. Get to house. Swipe left to say arrived. Go back to outdoor, scan parcel, go back on Navigation, repeat. Should be able to click on customers address within GPS and scan parcel that way instead of going back to the home page every time. Oh and let’s not forget PDA loading times and crashing!

That's probably partly why RM are bring in more and more 2D barcodes, as they normally have the destination address encoded in the barcode so as they get scanned out to a walk, in theory the system could use the address encoded in the 2D barcode for each item when building the routemarkarronsmith wrote: ↑16 Aug 2021, 17:471. Do you know the areas that you're delivering to? You don't have to use the naff navigation system if you do. I've only used it once, when delivering LATs for another DO and it was a pain in the arse. Taking 2 PDAs (if a 2nd one is available) makes it slightly easier, but you have to log one of them on with another id. There should be some generic ones for the DO available from somewhere.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Wouldnt it be better to kill 9am and 1pm off and make a next day 5pm product?
Things 'should' be in place in case of these circumstances, there are a lot of 'shoulds' in Royal Mail.
You shouldn't be doing them at 9 anyway, it's 11...
