Stinker of a day. Very heavy with letters and packets. Bringing more and more back as well which means the duties are taking longer. People taking f***ing ages to answer the door because they are all out in the back garden. Proper hammered on some peoples doors today and they still didn't answer until a neighbour popped into their garden and told em. Also dropped an entire bundle all over the place as one customer didn't quite understand that the reason I knocked was because they had a packet, Not because I just wanted to wave at them. As I rushed to re knock on the door again I tripped on a little step. The f****r didn't even ask if I was alright.

Nice and hot today; almost 30°C. It was a good thing I applied sunblock. :coolr

And thanks to our DOM, the posties in our office were freshly hydrated with cold energy drinks before we hit the road. It won't be quite as hot tomorrow as it was today, but it's expected to be another thirsty day. :cuppa

Strange day. It was heavy as most Wednesdays are but not as bad as normal, seemed to get round in good time but without rushing, on what’s one of the longest rounds in the depot too.

I’ve never worked so hard to get rid of a special though:

Placed the parcel on the floor, rang the bell and knocked on the door which was slightly ajar. Waited a minute, repeated the process. Still no answer. Door a bit further open now due to my knocking. Use the corner of the PDA to give it a good knock. Still nothing.

Go round the back, back door wide open, washing out. Upstairs window open, I can hear someone on the phone. I call up to them. Nothing. Go back round the front. Shout through the door/up the stairs ‘parcel’ and give the loudest knock I’ve ever done with the PDA. Someone over the road opens their door to see what the banging was.

Filled out a P739. No doubt they’ll put in a complaint saying I didn’t knock.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Bit of a mare today. Been floating on a route for a week and a bit. Gets in at 12 to start my shift. Moved on to another round to clear non-tracked packets. Looked agreeable, I mean, as a COVID day goes anyway. must have been c. 120-140 parcels on it. Probably about 50 oversized on one yorkie and the rest were flats and the like.

Now, the meat of it is this that was a round I'd never ever done before. If I ever come across this I tend to just stick the oversized on a manifest on one PDA, and then cross them off as I go through them, like you do with LATs. If I get lost I use the gps on my phone to guide me, and bob's your uncle.

Today, I must have waited 1-1.5 hours to get my hands on a van because of the whole ban on van sharing, which meant I got on delivery at around 2, after loading everything on. One thing led to another and I got about 90 of them done. What happened to the other 30-40 you ask? The manifest app on the PDA got updated so I couldn't cross them off without logging out of Outdoor and into the RO app and it started glitching. No biggie. I'll use my phone to see where I am. Phone breaks so I can't see which road starts where.

Cull everything that isn't near what I'm going and only do the street I'm on.

Technology is a pain in the backside.

Positives though. The van I got given was the new Peugeot Partner (It only had 200 miles on the clock) with one of them weird automatic handbrakes. THAT was the only positive.

Best vans we've ever had I think.

I've had one of those but the handbrake takes a bit of getting used to, kept reaching for the manual handbrake lol

The office is an utter shitshow atm. Some walks have only had a token attempt at delivery in days meaning some streets haven't seen any delivery apart from the tracked packets for the best part of a week.

Fairly busy today. Last week I started at 12, finished at 1.45, got given a full yorkie. Stacked to the top. Thought it'd take hours but it was stacked upside down so all the parcels were huge, and there was a buddy box with maybe 4 parcels in it, so shot through it.

Fast forward to today. Due to start the same time as last week. Had a chat with a mate who had just finished. He went on delivery at 9 and was back for 11.30. He mentioned how dead it was, how everyone was back around the same time. Nice.

I noticed ALL of the vans were back from delivery already. Thought to myself "oh, today will be easy".

Put on a round I'm familiar with, given a massive Vivaro and c. 80 oversized on 2 yorkies.

Now, I don't mind this. Like getting stuck in, having a chat with people on the route etc. Was done by about half 3/4. Not a bad turnaround.

Kind of felt like I had a huge amount of work compared to everyone else though. It can't be coincidence that the whole office is back after a couple of hours but there's maybe 5/6 frames that have an inhuman amount of work to do.

Whatevs. Decent day tbh.
