He didn't 'not do his job' - if anybody is not doing their job it's the manager - not resourcing correctly!Danielson1974 wrote:Well done for not doing your job so someone else got screwed overCPTNemoUK wrote:Was told to deliver all parcels and if need be leave mail in frame. I don't have to explain myself to you but I will. I have followed management instructions all Christmas to the T. I can't go over for personal reasons. I have worked to my time/had breaks all Christmas. It's not my fault RM can't organise a Christmas after over 400 attempts. I don't even blame our management (they got instructed from above). Anyway my walk is clear now just tomorrow to clear.Danielson1974 wrote:If you say so. No wonder the Royal Mail is on it’s arse...The Postman wrote:He did do his job. Right, so he went to the manager, was given guidance/instructions what he should do, he complied with them and worked to his time. Remembering that all overtime is voluntary so the someone getting screwed over had an option to refuse if they went over, and if they wanted it they would be paid for it.Danielson1974 wrote:If you say so. Yet you reckon he wasn't doing his job,
At least we agree on your last sentence, it's just that we disagree with the reason. You think its "lazy" posties doing the job the way they are told, whereas I think its managers who either can't resource correctly or worse are only following orders.

RMs plan for this Xmas was to leave the letters/mail in the frame and concentrate on the various forms of packets and parcels. We were told fairly early in November that this was the plan based on how the previous Xmas turned out with all the snow and backlogs of mail. RM like everyone else does not have a crystal ball so could not know in advance if we would get snowed in again. As it turned out everything went well and we are being told there are no backlogs at the MCs either and our DO cleared everything each day. Supposedly there were more parcels this year although it is difficult for us to quantify that. There certainly were more smaller to medium sized packets this year that could be fitted into the frame. I personally get the impression people were being more careful in their spending this Xmas but I might be wrong.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

Summer came early here too. Special GDPR-apocalypse level lapsing. If signing for a walk is going to be meaningless, could RM at least be honest about it.crimson king wrote:Our DO thanked us for all our endeavours before Christmas by giving us lapsing today

Absolutely. We've had lapsing every day since coming back after Christmas. We haven't had time to deliver it and keep bringing it back (we refuse, out of sheer basic principle, to do it in even a minute of overtime- if only others would do this instead of just doing it and then moaning!) and they keep telling us to deliver it and we keep bringing it back and they keep telling us to deliver it and we keep...DirtyHarry wrote:We had lapsing yesterday. We have now started started affectionately calling our lapsing 'Boomerang.'
EDIT: 'We' being my van share partner and I, as against the whole DO. If only.
