Aye. If things go as normal then by next weekend or the week after at the latest the wall of mail should arrive for us to deliver. If if doesn't we will know the business is in serious ****. I think the wall will arrive as usual though. We have already had a heads up for a big bulk mailing of Screwfix catalogues that are due to arrive on Saturday 1st September which suggests it's business as usual.DirtyHarry wrote:August bank holiday Monday.
Job, not that brilliant any more during the summer months, takes a decidedly bad turn for the very worse from tomorrow onwards.

The way it is now, if it goes as usual, Christmas will be impossible this year.

Yeh its gonna be carnage, especially if we have some bad weather. Management are implementing cost saving measures at the moment which is completely alienating staff, not the best time to be losing the workforce....Postie45 wrote:it relys on OT as it is, but i think fewer people will be willing to do OT due to goodwill nowadays.ewancurze wrote:The way it is now, if it goes as usual, Christmas will be impossible this year.

Will they ever learn thing is more and more people do online these days hence all the high street shops shutting they say it themselves but treat staff as commodity like sand till they cannot buy sand for love nor money and that time is soon it will be the case for Royal Mail is not the best employer in the world never mind UK. Because it is a top down autocracy driven by greed and bonuses but you cannot buy people's souls anymore when better jobs for far less effort are available burning your boats bridges so as to mitigate ones losses are one thing but the way this place is going is like the Titanic!mickeymacca wrote:Yeh its gonna be carnage, especially if we have some bad weather. It's carnage at our place at the moment now. Walks failing, not enough staff, mail centre apparently failed last week, yorks of mail just left to the side, cut offs aplenty and management walking around in a daze and just nodding and muttering to themselves about bank holidays. Even bullying and harrassment seem to have fallen by the wayside for now.mickeymacca wrote:Yeh its gonna be carnage, especially if we have some bad weather. Possibly a combination of shortage of staff and maybe the knockon affect of Network 18, now that the mail will be picking up again, you can probably expect your local MC to fail most days and can probably expect an increase in the amount of mech mail going manualcrimson king wrote:mail centre apparently failed last week

so = more sorting at DOs = posties out even later = more cut offsSpacePhoenix wrote:Possibly a combination of shortage of staff and maybe the knockon affect of Network 18, now that the mail will be picking up again, you can probably expect your local MC to fail most days and can probably expect an increase in the amount of mech mail going manualcrimson king wrote:mail centre apparently failed last week

The last 3 days we have been getting mixed shrouds of all local postcodes. Not good when we are on 2 floors and 5 sites.

The SWW is going to have a knock-on affect on sequencing, whee it's currently possible time wise to do up to 32 boxes a batch, as each hour reduction kicks in, there won't be the time to do 32 boxes a batch, it's quite possible that there would only be enough time to do 20 boxes once we get down to 35hr shifts. There's only enough time on wave 2 to do about 8 boxes a batch each so you're going to get more going manual as a result.Postie45 wrote:so = more sorting at DOs = posties out even later = more cut offsSpacePhoenix wrote:Possibly a combination of shortage of staff and maybe the knockon affect of Network 18, now that the mail will be picking up again, you can probably expect your local MC to fail most days and can probably expect an increase in the amount of mech mail going manualcrimson king wrote:mail centre apparently failed last week
Could potentially be a knock-on affect of Network 18, if the work is arriving later at your local MC, they might be setting up more setups to get the work done in the time available but might have to sacrifice the breakdown your DO gets to have the space for the extra setupsTrueBlueTerrier wrote:The last 3 days we have been getting mixed shrouds of all local postcodes. My last few Saturdays have been pretty horrendous, whether it be a sudden influx of heavy mail or ridiculous amounts of packets (today was the latter).

Pretty good but long. The round I was on hadn’t been fully delivered for a few days so had pretty much every house and way more than 1/6th d2ds (6 of them!!) despite this I was happy, 10 hours overtime was sunny but not hot.
