If our new owners impose a paycut or further reductions to our pension or anything else like that. If the union then balloted for strike action they would get a resoundig Yes.
If the union had balloted on the pensions before, as they pledged, they would have got a resounding yes!

I take your point Belle and you might have added that any industrial action taken against a private employer would in theory be more effective than under present conditions by threatening profits and dividends.
However if you look to Holland as the blueprint you will notice that the employer has systematically ,step by little step ground away at the union strength until they felt confident enough that the union was so weakened ,a 10% pay cut could be pushed through along with massive redundancies and intensive lobbying for a three day service.

Well to begin with B, TNT are only one of many. When you mention pay cuts, denigration of the pension, a massive loss of jobs (60,000 up to now),a less effective union, part time working.......................any of this sound familiar.

Well to be honest - none. However, one thing is for sure you cannot slay the dragon when you don't know what form it will take.

I don't think we could strike in any case as the dispute wouldn't be with RM, so RM could probably issue stage warnings or conduct code anyone who strikes over it. Dingo, is that correct?

You couldn't strike against privatisation...that would be considered political not a lawful "trade" dispute.
You could possibly strike against the erosion of your pension benefits that will inevitably come with privatisation.
It is however a legal minefield and i would imagine the union's legal counsel are very busy at the moment looking for exactly the right words.

Which they obviously didn't find the last time the pension was tampered with - unless you count "we have managed to decouple the pensions issue from the negotiations" - those words may come back to haunt them.

While I am still a member of this so called union I will never vote for IA again after the debarcle of the last two times, the imposed pay cut over d2d,s and the crap deal part timers got (of which i'm not)and I would seriously have to think hard if I would walk again.
I do not care what political party is in power the inevitibly of privatisation is there, we can do nothing about it, they can and would starve us out look at the miners, we are after all looking at the spawn of THATCHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
