Kretinsky is at 25%.
If we knew what his end game was we would all be rich.

How will administration save our jobs?
Government is required to provide a USO for letters :arrrghhh
The USO will be changed by an act of parliament the USO is not just the delivery of letters but that of the access providers ie TNT, UK POST ,UK MAIL, WHISTLE POST all these companies have creamed the profit off the letters side while never venturing into providing competition as they gain while we lose!
Quite a good point. There are now hundreds of these direct stream access companies who process the mail that we used to do and are taking away the potential profits that we used to make on letters.

The government could change the legislation to make letters more profitable for the business but all Royal Mail are interested in is watering down the USO and making a profit by reducing the service.
Thing is piss poor government and piss poor governance of the ROYALMAIL do I need to elaborate more but times are changing for us all one way or another things will change our lives. And good people will leave with the top down rotten edifice milking this cash cow till its nipples are blue!

People talk about the USO like it's some great burden on Royal Mail It's really not. Sure you have some stuff that's difficult. The price controls and the DSA and having to deliver to every address. But it's also a monopoly on letters and on 1st and 2nd class parcels. It's being the default parcel company of a nation and the government running a loss-making concern - the Post Office - to service it.

If you're a business person, that's not a bad place to start. And to build on. USO products have always made hundreds of millions of profit. Non-USO products, not in the least. And to throw all that away to become Yodel? Eh...

Thing is why are we doing the final mile at cost to us for the private access partners that costs us the most regulation is only as good as the government and it is sadly lacking in ability and credibility!

Seems like CWU and RM have a gentleman's agreement to wait until the members have become subdued enough to accept a poor deal. Before, the CWU were rallying everyone but now its utter silence, almost like they both want to stifle the members resolve so we accept a poor deal

The changes are here to stay just like all the other changes they've rammed up our arses year in and out. The holiday pay for example is a complete joke and fact Terry and CWU even entertained it was a farce. The hours are clearly there, but RM are perfectly okay to just delay mail or just have people work for free 🤦 All they can do I reckon is getting a acceptable pay deal. 100% under no circumstances should they toss all their chips on the table for said deal cuz that would be stupid. Say all the changes that are happening in some of the offices will be nationwide eventually. Didn't help every pay deal we voted in we had to bend over backwards for these f***ers.

But, hell in a sense, they have been conditioned to expect that from us so imagine their surprise when we thought, "ummm no, we saved your ass in COVID so why should we?" However, the moment Ward and Co went on TV and basically said "oh we have not opposed change and understand that," you basically opened the floodgates once again despite going on record at the start you wanted a no strings deal. Then, they went and agreed with these revisions despite the retort numerous of times saying how postman are overworked and also agreeing to move hours by half hour. It's a contradiction to what you've been going against it's no wonder people are questioning and losing faith in union.

Yes and I think CWU are allowing everyone to get used to the idea before officially agreeing with them. 'Progress has been made' probably means they made so many concessions

A lot of the damages have been done in many offices. Most of us now have duties that are far too long and more people will go on sick because of the added stress.
I don't buy into the old "You have a start and finish time" because although it's true it doesn't avoid the confrontation with the manager every single working day to tell them you will be leaving a row or two. It's also not great when the minority reply with "Well change your job then!!". A lot of us are in a position where we can't just change our job straight away due to age etc.

The Union should also insist that any executive action changes that have already happened in the last few months should be reversed.
Just man up, I know this sounds harsh, but there really shouldn't be conflict. You have a right to finish on time. You do not need a reason. If you think you will not be able to, then inform your lino at the earliest possible moment and ask how do you want me to proceed? The more you do it the easier it will be. Just stay chilled. It really is a much less stressful way to work. Always err on the side of caution, don't put yourself under stress by taking too much. If you get a day where everything is going your way on delivery, just slow your pace a bit on the last loop.
Its not harsh at all, never known a job where people cry and run off on the sick soon as they have a argument or stub their toe, and we wonder why RM want sick pay changed

It's the criteria to qualify for it, a fortnights holiday combined with perhaps not working a day off in one of the qualifying months period can stop the payment which is a bit annoying if you've regularly far exceeded the 8 hours required in other months.

The more of your posts I read the more I think you're not even a postie. What are you trying to achieve with a snidey bullshit post like that?

It's a physical job and as you age the job gets more difficult. Therefore it's a decent sick pay policy. You just don't get it though, why is that?

Have a look in the FAQ's on the people app it's explained in detail on there, basically you have to do 8 hours overtime per period (roughly 4-5 weeks) but that's for all six periods prior to the holiday taken so that's what I meant by it makes it a bit difficult if say you have a two week holiday and there's not much ot available for the other two weeks of that period, that's why it seems a bit unfair at times.

Ah ok. So you’d be left with 3 weeks or so to get 8 hours overtime in…

I suppose it’s better than it was when you would just get your basic wage?
Seems over complicated though….

As an example you could work 50 hours overtime for all but one of the allocated periods, the other you only do 7 hours. You get no holiday pay. Someone else does 8 hours overtime for all the periods, they get holiday pay. Stupid system, how that was worked out and passed by the union is beyond me.
