You criticise the line in the sand letter option,

Is that any different from the Three Cs?

Coach, Counsel & Conduct

Sounds to me management speak of an employee's personal improvement plan

And dismissal through a supposed line in the sand letter (Not Final Warning) will be unfair dismissal, not wrongful unless It involved a protected right such as a disability.

They can dismiss you on capability and use traffic volumes as justification.
The CWU has agreed to these revisions now with collective bargaining.

Duties have been too big now for years and nothing gets done about them, and that is with CWU involvement

They are so accurate with traffic volumes you would think they could forecast correctly by now, caught out 3 times last week in our office with bulk postings.Apart from the sequenced they have no clue what manual each duty gets.Scare tactics again...

They get the traffic figures from the mail centre on the amount of trailers arriving for processing each day. Then you have the machines, including the PSM, that count the items. It is then easy to put processing hours on each day required with the expected traffic that arrives in the delivery office. Individual duties are irrelevant, as that is inward sorting time allowed. The outdoor delivery span remains the same with call points.

How come they're getting the revised deliveries so wrong?

Have you considered the problems are at local level, that being the delivery office management of traffic rather than the Mail Centre?

Duties have been optimised, so any absence such as sick puts added pressure

I'd need to see the working on that one.
Under the present procedure and the legal framework surrounding disability discrimination the NCI process is completely impotent.

In all the years I've been in this business and all the cases I've been involved with I've never seen or even heard rumour of anyone being dismissed purely on capability grounds.

I'm not even sure what you mean by using traffic volumes as justification, that makes even less sense.

Will put it into Plain English

If an employee is being a Lazy Barsteward and not pull their weight then yes, they can be dismissed on performance and capability if no improvement is made. And my previous post was explicit in that an employee will be under a different process if they were under the DDA/Equality Act being a protected characteristic

Have you ever seen this happen or is it just another one of your hypotheticals?

I suspect I have a great deal more experience in the field as do the people I deal with every day and as I said I don't think anyone has any evidence anecdotal or otherwise of any member ever being dismissed purely on capability grounds.

I can hypothetically die in a fruit related accident tonight but I don't come on forums trying to frighten people about the dangers of eating bananas.

Try to stick to the pretty scary realities, we're facing enough of those without making up fake ones.
