Introducing Myself

Post by SMS1969 »

Hi All,

Joined a few months ago, thought it was about time I checked in! I have read with great interest what people go through at various places around the UK. Some of it sounds horrendous :thumbdown .
For anyone new joining, there’s great advice on here- I have picked up lots of information.
I started as a part time reserve and was on different duties almost daily, even having to go to other nearby offices and use the dreaded HCT’s, on duties I’d no idea about. I was given a map and told where to park the damn thing :hmmmm
However, I was able to pick a rotating duty on a repick recently, which is far better as you get to know each walk and the frames. I’d done all of the walks previously as well, so that has worked out. The duties can be long on certain days, so I either cut off or do overtime.
Some days I get home knackered, but in general I’m enjoying it- I don’t like being inside though for up to 4 hours throwing D2D’s, mail and packets in the frame and sorting the oversized, you end up just wanting to get out. I don’t know where the time goes inside sometimes. Had help from other posties, but met some arseholes. The Lino’s have been good

Thanks for your kind words, and your updates.
Some guy will come on in a min with more details, be nice to him.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Like most jobs, its what you make of it, give it a good go and you will eventually enjoy it. There will be arseholes there always is, and RMC will always look negative, more especially when there is industrial tension, but then most people never remember to post when something nice happened.
