How well maintained are the bikes in your office?

Post by South East Postie »

ours are very poor. the guy that does the duty is always angry when he has to do work. my stand broke last week and its still awaiting repair. whenever he is off the duty doesnt get covered. many of our bikes if you out and about youll see tape and bands holding things together. woeful! was just curious to see how other delivery offices faired.

In our Office, the bikes are maintained to a very high standard, the guy who does them takes a pride in his work. They are a `Tool`s` of the job! and your DOM has responsibility for ensuring bikes are well maintained! Get your CWU area rep or health & safety rep or unit rep to put in a disagreement if he fails to ensure bikes are not `MAINTAINED`

IF the bikes are in that state [unworthy for the road] you dont take them out. Put pressure on the screws to get them roadworthy. they are breaking health & safety leglistation.

Does the Area Health & Safety Rep Know about this?if not contact him first. ':wave'

Contact your Local EHS Council Officer and complain about these cycles.
Do Not fear they do not disclose the name of any person who raises a complaint
('')

Royal Mail are cost cutting in many areas of Health & Safety we have a real battle going on here.

If you don't have a vehicle that is safe to use then don't use it. Do your job how it's supposed to be done take your break, weigh your bags, start on time and if because you don't have the correct tools for the job you can't get it finished within your duty time then you have little choice but to break off.

Not your fault is it, perhaps then the screws will listen to your concerns.

i have to say post bikes are the worst ive ever ridden! Always getting punctures, gears that dont work well even when there supposed to be in working order!! The bikes do get fixed quickly enough tho. They arent fixed at our office anymore there taken elsewhere and normally returned in a day or two.
