We shouldn't be on first name terms with that imbecile. A minor quibble, I know, but we are defending ourselves against what should be regarded as a
criminal act, the theft of large sums from our pensions. :evil/mad

Prepare yourselves for a retirement selling 'The BIG ISSUE' and living in a local authority bungalow.
No, I'm not taking the mick (Sorry, Mick!)
This issue is A HOT POTATO that needs time to cool down.
What ever the outcome there's always the Salvation Army soup kitchen -we won't go hungry.

I just hope that ALL branches are doing things rather than just sitting back and waiting to blame other people!!!

As long as Lord Billy of Copperas Hill and Sir Dave Lard are calling the CWU shots they will.

Maybe but how many people and more importantly branches have taken the time to take part in the consultation??

By just sitting back people are giving RM the chance to say 'we have a consultation and nobody objected so it must be ok!'

We all need to pressure our branches, if every one ran a campaign similar to London it would put a lot of pressure on RM and also the CWU leadership!!

I agree with what we need to do,But the aftermath of this dispute and the way it was conducted will I believe and as I have suggested before have very negative consequences.

Why do you think individuals and branches are failing to participate in the consultation? You can't cut a mass membership out of the loop on one agreement, then re request their support to achieve another.

Trust and confidence are key requirements, both are lacking amongst the most active

B*llocks, not to put too fine a point on it. The consultation process has been going for 5 weeks and if there was a concerted effort required by the leadership it should have been taken at the outset. Whatever crumbs are left on the table the gruesome twosome will hail it as a monumental victory, yet again, you'll pardon me if I'm :Sick

Just as a matter of interest what sort of pension are the leadership on? No don't tell me I think I might be :Sick again.

I never said a concerted effort was needed from HQ. I said it was needed and should be demanded from Branches!!

We all pay our fees and branches should be adopting policies and positions for this debate and forwarding them to CWU HQ. Sadly i think too many branch officials would rather shy away from the heat of the debate when they are most needed!

I don't want you to be labouring under any misapprehension here LJ but the following was taken from the CWU website and is directly concerned with the so called consultation:

"Royal Mail is under no legal obligation to take account of any of the points raised in the consultation exercise. However, results of the exercise are the subject of an ongoing dialogue with the union. It is important that members make their views known. "

What is missing from the statement is "and then have them totally ignored". I can quite understand people not wanting to go through a fruitless consultation exercise.

personally cant see any milage in a pension fight. Its done and dusted. I think BA are going through a similar thing at the moment. Seems like big business and the government have got together on this one. Billy and Dave realised they wouldnt be able to fight this and gave up on it as part of the recommended "agreement." Consultation on this issue wont change anything.

Whats your opinion then ED ,do youthink if we gave up our pensions altogether and did a 50hour fully flexible week for £125 basic we could put RM onto a sound financial footing?

There's something missing from RM's proposals on the pension reform. They don't say that if the financial situation improves, they will aim to reinstate the pension benefits. They just have a disclaimer on the pensions web site saying that there would be other things to do with any increased profits. Depressing.

We might not be able to prevent the changes now, but surely we might be able to argue for the introduction of a pension benefit review system, to be implemented when a certain level of profit is reached?
