Manager right or wrong?

Post by PostmanSteve09 »

Does waiting for a test result on a work day warrant a sick absence? I had a test on a Saturday and received a inconclusive result...retested on Sunday but had to self isolate on a work day Monday...test came back negative so went back to work Tuesday only to find out manager had put it down as sick leave absence..any thoughts?

My understanding is that it should be counted as sick absence ( as you were, off sick and the day has to be recorded as something ) but it will not count towards any stage warning as it is Covid related.

But rereading your post i may be completely wrong as you were self isolating.

I think you are entirely right. There are 2 or 3 different options on the system to enter an absence as covid related depending on if it’s a confirmed case or just self isolating due to someone else having a confirmed case or waiting for your own test result. It will go on your record but should not be used against you for an attendance review.

Unless the thread starter has omitted any important information they seem to have acted in a completely responsible and correct way and the absence should not be recorded as normal sick leave.
