Terry Pullinger referred to it in his address to the CWU membership on Friday evening. Someone must know something about this?

After what the chief medical and science officer said today there’s absolutely no chance van sharing will be happening.

It’s not something we didn’t already know about how the virus is transmitted but I won’t get in shared van and I’ll use their evidence as to why I won’t.

Yeah, once again the outlook appears bad. :cry

Washington Post (Sept. 21, 2020) ~ Britain Could Face 50,000 Coronavirus Cases Per Day by Mid-October, Top Government Scientists Warn
In a rare televised address from 10 Downing Street, Patrick Vallance, the British government’s chief scientific adviser, and Chris Whitty, chief medical officer for England, said the number of covid-19 cases is doubling roughly every seven days.
“If, and that’s quite a big if, but if that continues unabated . . . you would end up with something like 50,000 cases in the middle of October, per day,” said Vallance. A month later, this could result in more than 200 deaths a day, he said.
The ominous warning comes amid speculation that the British government is set to introduce a new round of restrictions. Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to make a statement to Parliament on Tuesday on the next steps Britain will take.

You couldn't make it up! They took us off vans in the summer when the figures were falling and now they are on about putting us back on vans when figures are rising sharply!

Good grief. From the live conference (in the embedded video above):
Sir Patrick Vallance: "[A] lot of people have said, maybe this is a milder virus than it was in April. I'm afraid, although that would be great if that were true, we see no evidence that [that] is the case."

[...]

Seasonal flu normally in the UK would in an average year kill around seven thousand people a year, tragically, and in a bad flu year, as like for example the worst three years ago, it might kill upward to twenty thousand a year.

This virus is more virulent than the flu."
So if this projection becomes a reality, then expect all those covidiots who've been shouting, "The flu is worse! The flu is worse!" to suddenly go silent.

We were told about it in our office yesterday prior to the area director and his cronies visiting the office the same day . We were also told to clear the fittings and take all the mail out even though we had no chance of completing. Something’s afoot in Kirklees ! Watch this space , will update as soon as I get anymore info .

They have probably deliberately chosen an office that is absolutely chomping at the bit to return to van share, the mere suggestion of it in most other places would cause a walkout.

PS, It's now 6 months EXACTLY this week since van shares stopped and the only progress we've had in how to deal with it going forward is an awkward non denial from TP of a return/trial in his video last week.
Does anyone else find this unacceptable?

I'd be very suprised if it came back now, especially with the new announcements.

If anything, it should be going back to the first few weeks/months of lockdown with those that have returned to offices working from home.
