15 minutes of Boris and very serious sounding and looking, no jokes or buffoonery, maybe as he almost died of Coronavirus and is having to father a child (and actually be responsible for it) he has become a changed man?

Bullsh*t Baffles Brains. He used lots of graphs and bullet points and r ratios etc. and lots of waffle.... but actually said very little, so maybe same old Boris?

i don't see what else he could do, mistakes have been made but we cant look back, right now its a case of let see what happens if we ease the restrictions a little.

It was scripted, so scripted in fact that the press knew what he was going to say before he said it.

That begs the question, why does the government need to release the details of such an important speech 12 hours before it happens?

The truth is of course the press wanted to lead with the details on Sunday morning rather than play catch up on Monday after the fact so the real question is who's running the country?

Boris or Rupert and Co?

Yes mistakes have been made but when they continue to be made you do wonder if they are really mistakes or just the original policy being covertly implemented. I don't fancy risking my life and the lives of my family and friends so lets see how many lives we can save by having a proper lockdown like we should have done from the start.

Boris is just a ventriloquists dummy, once he becomes untenable (very shortly?) he'll be out on his ear and the next one will be rolled in

There were lots of other things he could have done probably starting with how are people who don't drive or don't have a spare car or two supposed to get to work?

Are people now allowed to go on holiday in the UK as long as it's by themselves , visit friends as long as they can socially distance themselves? Could Glastonbury go ahead as long as you could find a big enough field? Can you have a party as long as everyone stays 2 metres apart and does pilates while they're drinking?

Half-assed mixed messages designed to lift the lockdown by stealth without having the courage to lift the lockdown.

It's a bad day when Nicola Sturgeon looks more like a UK prime minister than the UK prime minister.

Well Germanies R has gone up from 0.7 to 1.1 since they eased restrictions and Merkel claimed a while back if that happened then the exponential increase in infections would overwhelm the German health care system.. just a question of time to see if that does feed through and her prediction was accurate.

The government simply cannot make a single decision for themselves and instead continue to put the onus and responsibility on the general public. Seems to be a mirror of the lack of definitive action on interest rates and Brexit both of which are still in free fall/limbo.
Boris is saying go to work if you can but provides little advice or anything else. Surely the children have to go back to school in most if not the majority of cases before many are able to return to work. Will those able to return to work be allowed to send their children back to work like the key workers?
If I was in charge I would say lockdown the major infection areas for a starter which are obviously London, Birmingham, & Manchester. Only necessary people to enter or leave. Then I would have face coverings - handmade or masks - to be worn by everyone when outside of their homes. Then look to get half of school classes back to school every other day with everyone in school wearing face coverings and keeping distanced as much as possible.
As it stands we will likely be in the same boat as Spain & Italy so schools will likely not have children in them before September . The chancellor has said furlough cannot continue at the current rate until September so something has to give. I think we have to consider what we will do if a vaccine cannot be developed.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

The government are in a mess, apparently Boris filmed most of this yesterday before he had even briefed the cabinet about what he was going to say. Hancock will get chucked under the bus over the PPE disaster in the next few weeks as well I would bet.

I think they know exactly what they are doing, the instructions are so open to interpretation which gives them the get out clause of saying it's not what they meant. Throw in the changing of their slogan and the not so subtle changing of the colours from red to green and you can see their devious plan, very dangerous times ahead for the working class.

I forget who originally said it but this is moment in politics where the wink of an eye becomes an uncontrollable twitch.

To sum up- if you are low paid cannon fodder, go to work, risk your life, and line our pockets for us.

If you are a well paid professional, enjoy your time off, stay safe, and vote tory.

And if you own multiple properties, be it a holiday let, air bnb or even just a holiday home that you're claiming to be a ''business'' in order to avoid paying Council Tax on it... here's £10,000 just to keep you going.

It's not about winning it's about saving lives and doing what's right for the UK, party politics should be left behind
