I heard at old rep mention it in a big union meeting we had with the DOM about 1 year ago. Apparently its so you can go to the toilet and ummm make your self comfortable before you go out on deliveries. Not sure if its official but I am sure someone will tell us on here.

under the S D D argreement you can take 20 min before you go out on delivery & 20 mins at the end or you can take the 40mins at the begining. Its your break take it how you wish.

In our office we call it a grace break and yes it is allowed so that you can have a cup of tea before you go out on your walk. :Very Happy

meal breaks

Every postman is legally entitled to a forty minute meal break within an eight hour shift. It is every manager's responsibility to ensure that at least a twenty minute break is taken, away from the sorting office floor, before leaving the office. What's the point of not taking a break that you are legally entitled to. Check it out with your rep. Info available on the web. :nana

If I remember correctly the `grace break` is 10 minutes if time permits, and is in the way forward agreement?
