a couple of things if we go strike. not only will royal mail suffer but also the other so called competition will be unable to get there mail delivered which in turn will possible cause job losses which can and will go along way for our dispute.

secondly the government i believe will intervene an pull Croizer and Leighton aside and have a quiet word. and will be back in talks with Royal Mail.

finally i believe if this was a general election year we wouldnt be balloting for strike action after all isnt the business partial owned by the goverment and wouldnt exactly help there election campaign.

Isnt it about time the goverment scrapped their arms length relationship with RM? Considering all the major issues to deal with and potenial impact on CWU members isnt it time for for 3 way talks RM, CWU and the Goverment to avoid all the crap we have now? How much of members money has been spent on all the promontial material from the CWU for industrial action that could have been saved if the goverment took a closer intrest and helped find a solution acceptable to CWU mbrs. Time the political wing of the CWU flexed its muscles!

The Union have secured an early day motion reading in the commons. We had Pete Keenlyside from the PEC of CWU in our area delivery meeting on 22nd May. We asked for prompt updates in the political campaign. I think a call to your branch office could give you more info. The government put in their manifesto a piece about reviewing the regulator in this parliament. Lets hope they're true to their word.

Good post mate. RM and the CWU should join forces and get the government to sort this out. postcomm - funded by the government who of course own RM are bleeding us dry.We are a public service and imo still a bloody good one that is being ruined by the people who own it! Believe me the old adage "you don`t know what you`ve got till its gone" will ring true if we continue to be penalised by the regulators ludicrous "final mile". RM and the CWU tell TNT, business post et al to deliver your own f***ing mail if you want to nick all of the most profitable business off us! Goverment wont intervene since commercial freedom they dont want to, Brown might have a quiet word with DUMB AND DUMBER, because of the unrest at the start of his premiership, but dont hold your breath, its amazing how we werent at arms length when the gov were taking 90% out of the profits and not paying anything into our pensions.
