Missed 1 o'clock delivery
Hi, I missed a guaranteed 1 p.m. delivery today by 3 hours. Completely forgot I had it. Do you think that that's a sacking offence?

Was it a proper b41 special or an international one ? If the latter it doesn't matter, if a proper one then not normally a sacking (depending on any previous failures) but more likely a slapped wrist and make sure you don't do it again.

Yeah, it was a guaranteed 1 o'clock. Thing is I missed 2 guaranteed deliveries within my first month of starting with RM. Ive been here 5 months now and missed another one so I'm a bit worried.

I am still new too. I'm always worried that I have left a parcel in the delivery bag and that I forgot to process it. Been fine so far. But today, I am concerned that I forgot to process a signed for packet and that it may be in a bag.....hopefully this isn't the case.

A good tip I got told from a colleague when I was still wet behind the ears was to write a list of specials down (use a paper card from the back of a yorkie!), underlining all the 1pm ones, then stick it in the cd player slot / document holder. That way it's easier to keep track of them.
I'd suggest take the union rep with you, admit your mistake, and say you will take better care in future.

I always put shut notice items either in a tray in the back of a van, or in a drop bag in the back of the van. Always good idea to check pouch bags are empty at the end of each loop.Interested-seeker wrote: I am still new too. I am 4 years in the job and i still do this with specials and large packets. Just takes a lot of pressure off you trying to remember everthing.greengiant wrote:A good tip I got told from a colleague when I was still wet behind the ears was to write a list of specials down (use a paper card from the back of a yorkie!), underlining all the 1pm ones, then stick it in the cd player slot / document holder. I put my specials in tray in walk order and keep to one side in the back of the van.

I usually do keep the specials in a tray but one of my colleagues put it in the slot on my frame and bundled up the loop for me and I forgot it was there. Ah well, ive yet to speak to my manager about it.

Thanks, that is what I usually do. But I am in the bad situation of having an ever increasing delivery round (construction) and a collection to get back in time for. So think that rushing is affecting how I work. I do have a daily habit of checking the bags before I put them back, but I am still worried that I may have not done so properly and maybe missed something.greengiant wrote:A good tip I got told from a colleague when I was still wet behind the ears was to write a list of specials down (use a paper card from the back of a yorkie!), underlining all the 1pm ones, then stick it in the cd player slot / document holder. I always write an abbreviation of the address of each Special Delivery in biro on the back of my hand.
Never fails.

Not really your fault then, I would expect a slap on wrist at worst. How did he get it to put in in the slot? Did he get the specials from the locker and sign for them? In this case it's even less your fault.MarkPW87 wrote:I usually do keep the specials in a tray but one of my colleagues put it in the slot on my frame and bundled up the loop for me and I forgot it was there. Unless things have changed very recently , you should not be dealing with Special Delivery items at all for your first ~6 weeks of starting at RM.MarkPW87 wrote:Thing is I missed 2 guaranteed deliveries within my first month of starting with RM.
