Work time learning.
Do you guys have them,i've probably had about 3 or 4 since they 1st started all them years ago.
My old office gave up cause no one said nothing, and the office i'm in now doesn't have them at all.
And if you do what goes on in them?
Also we haven't had a team briefing for over a year now.

WORK TIME LISTENING AND LEARNING replaced work time learning which replaced team briefs all 3 are a waste of time and usually for us just turn into a bitching sesion if any points are raised the line manager says ill get back to you on that and nothing happens as they hope you forget,i can tell you that from experience since i was a boss at the time the phrase was introduced which was about the time wtl became wtlal

Work Time Propaganda sessions here every Tuesday. In one session before Christmas the CWU rep and a Long service Postie accussed the Alley Boss of this. Boy did he loose it big time.
All we seem to get is reminders to weigh bags, do the door to doors and what problems there are ordering uniforms. Otherwise its about how much business we're loosing and the challenges ahead.
Mind you recetly he told us that RM Managers all have to reapply for their jobs and that as they think 50% are going to loose theirs they might have strike action and even might stop crossing our picket lines. He mentioned Manvers in particular.

I WAS A STAND IN BOSS for about 2 years does this mean i get kicked off the site, i think i managed to stay human most of the time, true blue terrier might be able to answer that ,had to give up in the end due to shape of face didnt seem to fit in the office
first day back from my course with a glowing report i turned up in my new next shirt tie and trousers and proper shoes and was told by dom that he didnt think i should be there and he didnt want me there and it kind of went downhill after that, i had a constant stream of people telling me that there was no way i should be tret the way i was and that i should complain but who to???
came away bitter and slightly twisted but i spent a lot of time on my duty and that kept my feet on the ground one thing for sure if you want to turn rm into a career dont bother with hard work efficency or any of that you will either get pushed in the right direction by a boss or forget it

I'll start a pollROCKY wrote:does this mean i get kicked off the site,
It's unusual down our way when one of our guys go acting guvnor that they come back.
Usually they just disappear and only get seen in a Managers role.
Seems you got a raw deal out of it,but at least you know some of the background malarky's that goes on.
But aint it weird for you though, seeing both sides of it.

yes you do see why a lot of things happen and are said but line managers get very little say in what goes on ive got 14 years in now and i was shocked how hard it can be to get some people to do what they are been paid to do, 8hrs docket home at 11.30 to almost quote that has to be justified somewhere the big problem is that a lot of senior people remember how much work they used to do and cannot live with what is expected now the managers we see are only doing what they are told its their job, many posties on the otherhand will do anything to reduce theres when you stand back and look around some of the workrates are disgracefull it leaves the rest of us with more work but we defend the culprits when the boss gets at them, spend a day really looking around and you will be shocked not many normal employers would stand for it.
a locker phg said to me many years ago when i was having a go you should try it from this side for a while and boy was he right
but do i defend most of what is happening these days no way ,but just think as you look around if it was your money would you want to pay some of the people we have for the effort they put in would you want them working for you at your house?
if your plumber finished at dinner time on a tuesday then left as the gas was leaking on a wednesday evening would you want him back?
yes its weird you cant desribe it until you have done it

To a certain extent,i haven't the time for ANY Managers, there are things i've seen and heard of that make me sick.
While i accept that certain things they are told to do,it's how these c***s do it that screws the morale in a lot of offices.
At times we're treated like we're something that's on the bottom of their shoe,f**k em if they're under pressure, they know the score when they took the job.
Just like i have to work in all kinds of s**t weather, like i'm gonna complain it's raining and cold out side!!!
The 'Touches' and easy jobs are gradually going now,the job is getting done by us cutting corners and the like, early starts, using Cars, overweight bags ect, they know this yet hit us for more,so we cut more corners to finish as early as poss, without sticking together and forcing their hand.
A lot of us understand that yes, there has to be changes, but it's going overboard now,and due to bad top Management who are f***ing the business up it's us that are feeling the brunt of it.
I hear that the Managers will have to start reapplying for their jobs soon so that makes sense why they are treating their budget like it comes out of their pockets.
So i'm guessing the scum ones will stay.
Tbh i do look around,Posties have to be the worst moaners in any business,a bit of work comes in and all hell breaks loose.
I do my work,yeah sometimes it's a pisser when it's heavy,but if i can't finish in my time,i don't.
It's just the way we're treated,it really grates me.

cant argue with what you say its not so much the job but how you do it as a boss that counts, probably why i was the only acting manager in all the years ive been there who has never been asked back bossin or why i quit not so much as a interview maybe i wasnt nasty enough or tight enough i dont cut off now but once the later starts come in i will have to, kids at school with a 3.30 finish ,schools wont change there times because we are been pushed into 9-5
one bit of good news we finally have a answer to our bonus question it will be covered in wtlal tuesday but it seems its a bit complicated i guess thats a poite way of saying shafted again will see tomorrow

Anyway,we have a cemented thread about this stuff above. WTLL Tuesday
Anyway,we have a cemented thread about this stuff above. WTLL Tuesday
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
