Have not heard it officially or unofficially but its something i've been expecting. However this year Saturdays have been busy days and not quiet like they used to be.

Longs and Shorts

Post by johnnyp »

I have heard this mentioned a long time back ,but dont know of any office where it is practise. This has to be agreed with your unit rep under I/R framework before changing duty times im certain of that,as they will start doing what they want when they want.

They can't just bring it in without negotiation,ok they can but you then put in a disagreement and walk.
Anyway, national agreement is 3-30hrs for a walk and they CAN'T make that longer.

:nana :nana Our rep briefed us last Fri our DOM is after shorts and longs. He's gone into disagreement as the CWU is not negotiating any efficiency measures until a pay deal is sorted. It would appear from the posts so far that this is something RM want nationaly. Watch this space   :nervous :nervous --------------------KWACK

I don't know! Think it might be a energy thing! I don't walk a fraction of what town posties do! My delivery times don't change much because i deliver to about 95% of households everyday. The only time my delivery times change is when the snow comes and you can add on hours.

It may not be a popular view but instead of trying to make us work short days when light (Tuesday and Saturday)
why don't they turn it on its head and sort out the mail so its more evenly spread over 5 days Mon - Fri ....we all like
our lighter Tuesdays but if instead of being loaded up like a carthorse on thursday and friday with crap they encouraged customers,
or organized better the flow of non time critical mail more evenly over the week so each weekday our delivery's are more or less the same,
sure it could be done if they put their minds to it

Isnt longs and shorts a admission from managers that as the week goes on deliveries just cant be done within duty time.

Saturdays are getting heavier in my office as well. Mailsort three switching to DSA is part of the problem!

Been talking bout this for years,i'd rather a heaver Tues and the other days a bit less.
Some how they can't work out the logistics of it all.

But saying that WHAT is the deal with Tuesdays, don't no one work Mondays or summin,it's always flummuxed me.

Image Image Darude mate you and your mates must oppose Longs and shorts, there is a CWU instruction not to negotiate or accept any changes until the national dispute has been sorted. DO you have an office Rep?----------------A KWAK in time???????????Image
