Agency staff

Post by the beautiful bd south »

Has any other office had agency staff in during/after industrial action?
We had them in on wednesday night and again on thursday although they didn't do a great deal.
Seems like it was just managments way of sticking 2 fingers up at us.....

They are being used at our MC. Line Managers ask us to show them what to do and we refuse.

They are causing more problems as they cant do half the jobs going, only purpose they seem to serve is for the Line Managers to pathetically attempt to chat the women up.

The agencys are making a pretty penny as they are charging RM £15 an hour for each worker. The worker gets about £5 or minimum wage an hour.

no offence to agency staff but they are a complete waste of time and money rm have tried this ploy time and time again and it never works, they move mail around to make things look good but it soon winds up back with us to deal with

Yeah we had them, came to my house and delivered my mail.
10 mins later came to my house and delivered mail.
Same house number different streets.
Told them where they had gone wrong in the bermuda triangle 10 minutes.
Pointed them to go right, they went left.

Yes we had agency staff!
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Having Agency staff whilst industrial action is in progress, ie while we are on strike, is illegal..
see this union Branch circ:
http://www.cwu.org/members/action.asp?s ... 0&catid=21
LTB 673/2007 - National Guidelines for the Two Week Programme for Industrial Action
23 July 2007
•The use of agency staff will still be illegal where Units are on strike however clearly the business will seek to use agency staff before and after each strike and throughout the period in offices that are still due to be operationally working.

when i was bossin i had a walk covered by an agency bloke,he came in and i showed him what to do and how to throw off and left him to it,i got my o/t walks out and was going for something to eat about 1200 when he came to me and said he was finished, having been out off the office most of the morning i was really impressed untill i follwed him to his frame and realised as he put his coat on that he had just finished throwing off and he was heading home i broke the news that he was expected to deliver it as well and the look on his face was amusing to say the least, any way he went out and i dropped him at his start point but of course most of it was there when i came back in the morning, some of the agency staff do work very hard because working for us is a hell of an improvement over what they have got,but training and know how says it all,as a boss i would have given some of these lads a job but the situation they were in and what was expected off them was out of order

No but I'm sure they will.
"We know RM was making a million pounds day. We are now losing money even though you're doing the same job. It's us in shiny arse towers who've f****d it up but you will get the blame"
