Can I get more than 24 Hours ?
I have only been a posty for 12 weeks and wondered if I could ever get on the 40 hour week rather than the 24 hour week. In my interview was told I could get 40 hours but it would be after I'd been there for 16 weeks but the guys at my office said I would always be on 24 hours. Bit gutted about that as now will have to find another part time job in the evenings.
I do get a bit of overtime in the week but they want me to stop booking overtime now as well, most of the time its not my fault as I usually have to wait for between half an hour to an hour and a half in the mornings to get my bags dropped off as I dont drive. I have spoke tio the managers about getting me a regular lift but they dont seem to care. They only care when I book overtime and tell me I will have to stop doing it !!

Why not have a word with your rep mate? You've got some good blokes at Stockport.JAMESMARSH1980 wrote:I have only been a posty for 12 weeks and wondered if I could ever get on the 40 hour week rather than the 24 hour week. And don't forget to write on it "Minus Political Fund" or you will end up paying money to the Labour Party who have put the very people preventing you from obtaining a 40 hour contract in place.JAMESMARSH1980 wrote:I will do mate, I've got one here somewhere so will dig it out and get signed up for it.

You know it makes sense! There used to be a box to tick on the old forms, but it hasn't been on there for some years now.JAMESMARSH1980 wrote:Ah didnt know that, I will write that in big black permanent marker then !!

How long will it take till I'm all signed up, I could do with a rep coming in the office with me as I'm sick of waiting about an hour and a half every morning to get my bags dropped off and then they are moaning at me coz I have to book overtime for it as I cant get my round finished in time. I've told then about it but theres 4 managers at are place and they all pass the book to one another.

Give your rep the completed form, and he should go in with you right away. I always did when I was the rep. I'll bet he/she won't let you down over this business with your bags. It's hardly your fault if managers are incompetent.JAMESMARSH1980 wrote:How long will it take till I'm all signed up, I could do with a rep coming in the office with me as I'm sick of waiting about an hour and a half every morning to get my bags dropped off and then they are moaning at me coz I have to book overtime for it as I cant get my round finished in time. Nice one, Just found the form so will fill it in now and looking forward to finally getting it sorted, 12 weeks of waiting has finally made me crack up !! And all the managers do is stand there with fags and coffee asking am I not out yet (Er no me sitting here on the floor with all my bags kinda gives the answer to that question) !!!

They're a dead loss aren't they? Still, at the end of every week you know you've earned your wages, not like the parasites allegedly managing the job. Chin up mate, we've all been the new boy. You'll be alright.JAMESMARSH1980 wrote:Nice one, Just found the form so will fill it in now and looking forward to finally getting it sorted, 12 weeks of waiting has finally made me crack up !! 24 hour contract ? Is that what they want us on? I know a postman on a 35 hour per week part time contract - I'm his floater - and another on 33 hours per week but full time hours (i.e. less on Saturday).
I'm on 30 hours per week and I'm fully aware that RM wants everyone on part-time hours so they don't pay us on the easier days.
