Gone home sick

Post by Aaron »

Well today I went home sick after being at work for 50mins, they sent me home no questions asked.

Now when Im feeling well enough to return to work do I need to tell them or just go back to work?

This is the first time.. as you may remember Ive only been a Postie for 8weeks.

At my DO we have to ring every morning within 15 minutes of the start time. They will then ask you "pertinent questions" give them an idea of when you will go back but don't make it definite.

Where I work if you go home sick during shift, the following night ( 2200 hrs - 2300 Hrs ) will ring to enquire how you are feeling and ask when you may return to work, fine in practice but I had a moan aswhen they ring it disturbs the rest of the family so they do not ring anymore, if they do I ignore it as I do not want to be disturbed if I am sick do I. !!!!!!! :mad :mad

In our office you are likely to get a daily phone call from the DOM, if you don't have this sort of `thing`, then let them know at least 24hrs before your `shift` starts.

Yeah we usually get a daily 'check you're in call'

you can have 7 days before you need a sick note.

I only ever let work have my mobile no and it's usually off so they have to leave a message, after the third message you can hear how pissed off they are getting lol

There should be an answer phone in the DOMS office where you can leave a message? or maybe you can leave a message on the answer phone in the `callers office.`

got no right to ring you in your home even if they are pretending to have 'a duty of care' it's harassment tell them to stop i did and no more after that you should tell them when you are going to return but thats it :cfo :lfo

I'll try calling today and leaving a message, but I have no idea what my duties are for next week. I think I will go in early monday.

To be on the safe side give the office a ring tonight, leave a message on the answer phone if there's no answer, if they have one. Otherwise, ring them once you get up tomorrow morning.
TBT, that's typical Banks harassment! You do not have to ring in everyday and they certainly can't ring you everyday. If you say you'll be off for a week then they shouldn't need anymore from you till that week is up. Have a word with Red Ken if need be. But he's tried that kind of wank before with loads of people. All you are required to do is ring them to inform them you're going sick, then give them a weekly update if it's a prolonged absence. Once you know you'll be back you let them know. Anymore communication than that and it's harassment.

You'll get used to that mate. Most of the time when it just rings and rings there are actually managers in the office ignoring it.
Just looked up the number for what might be your office on Yell. Click me
