Harrington jackets now discontinued?

Post by The Postal Avenger »

Can these still be ordered or not? The only options now seem to be the cheap shitty fleece or the waterproof.
Just wandering if it's only Scotland that can no longer get them or if its a national thing.

I remember seeing a picture of that in the Corier and it reminded me of somebody you would find working in McDonalds. Horrible.

It's a national Royal Mail policy. Whenever a new item of uniform is issued and found to be popular and practical, they discontinue it. Thermal coats, sleeveless fleeces, wooly pullovers, Doc Martens boots and Clarkes shoes, Harrington jackets and sleeveless jumpers.
If the item is totally useless like stormproof coats which don't keep out a heavy shower, lightweight trousers which change colour with every wash and delivery pouches which appear to be made from blotting paper, they continue to issue them.

Can't help but laugh at that. Lost count of the amount of times my mails turned to paper maché when it rains.

Well, they've only had a couple of centuries to come up with something waterproof. Give them a chance.

And those yellow pouch waterproof inserts just act like buckets, making the mail even wetter.

Obviously there will be two uniforms. A Monday to Friday one for when we're delivering mostly Royal Mail stuff and one for Saturdays when it's mostly Downstream Crapcess. Leighton and Crozier have special uniforms which fasten up the back using straps because they're nut cases.
